Hi Everyone.
Continuing with #threetunetuesday posts.

"What Is a Reference Track?
A reference track is any finished track from another artist that you can use as a model for the desired sound of your own music.

When you use a reference, the goal is to compare your track with the other artist’s track to come up with ideas for the arrangement, production, mix, or overall vibe."

It is like an unwritten rule, but having multitude of reference tracks is a must for any music production studio, regardless of genre or style or size.

Whether they serve as guidance or inspiration.

I will dedicate a few Tuesdays to share with you some of the music that I use often as a reference or that simply represent examples of music productions of the highest order (in my opinion of course).
Considering that so much of music from the 60s till 90s has also been remastered or even remixed, choices for today's contemporary productions are literally limitless.

Today I will share with you three tracks that I personally often use when working on the tracks.

Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
Produced by Jimmy Page

Legendary band, with legendary drummer and drum sound. Jimmy Page would often say that he did not do much considering sound. It is simply how John Bonham played.
I think Page is being bit humble with this, as he managed to capture that sound in such a way as to make it timeless. Any song from their repertoire can be used as reference for drums.

Metallica - Enter Sandman
Produced by Bob Rock

One could argue that Metallica would probably never become such a huge band if they did not have this period working with Bob Rock.
He did not commercialize them. He simply produced them well and made them shine.

Pharrell Williams - Happy
Produced by Pharrell Williams

Pharrell is reference not only as example of modern production, but also as someone who is kind of do it all artist. Performing, Producing. He excels in everything, and although not my style, big influence with his minimalistic approach that sounds really large.

I hope you enjoyed reading and listening. Best Regards!
