Hello everyone,Its a pleasure to participate in healthy -Bees week1 prompt. Thanks to the administrator for this insightful topic.
I am a mathematics and further mathematics teacher in Herald Secondary school.Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. I started first term 2024/2025 academic session with energy and vigor, trying to complete my lesson note I prolonged my stay at school which leads to stress and dizziness so I opted out for paracetamol tablets but to no avail, before you know I could not sit, stand or bend down, and I had been feeling unwell for weeks. Relentless fatigue, joint pain, and a general sense of unease made it difficult to keep up with my daily life and responsibilities as a mathematics teacher. Concerned, I went to see my doctor. After a series of evaluations, I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)—a complex condition that affects the body’s ability to regulate energy.

The doctor prescribed medicine to manage my symptoms, but the was no improvement.Dissatisfied yet insistent to feel better, I decided to handle it my own way and started exploring alternative approaches to gain a deeper understanding of my condition.

During my research, I came across hidden truths which lead me to a connection between gut health and CFS. Fascinated, I decided to change my diet. I introduced fermented foods, healthy bacteria, and nutrient-rich meals into my routine. As someone who values structure and preparation ,I created a comprehensive meal plan that supported my goals. In addition, I started daily exercise , such as walking through the local park, trekking to school, climbing the stairs regularly and swimming—activities that didn’t leave me feeling drained.

Gradually, I started seeing positive changes. My energy levels increased, the prolonged joint pain eased, and I began to feel more like myself However the medications had provided some support too, it was the combination of dietary changes and consistent movement that truly transformed my condition.

I learnt an important lesson through this journey which I often share with my students: complex problems scarely have simple solutions. A holistic approach to health—one that involves diet, exercise, and mental well-being, in company with conventional medicine—can unlock new practicability.

By staying unusual, experimenting new strategies, and participating with healthcare professionals, I have control over my health and found a renewed appreciation for the delicate balance between body and mind. This experience has made me more mindful of the importance of persistence and the power of small, consistent changes in the pursuit of well-being.
