DYPSIS LUTESCENS
The tall, clumping areca palms resemble bamboo clumps due to their smooth trunks. Their fronds resemble bamboo leaves in that they are narrow. When grown indoors, these low-maintenance, air-purifying palms grow about half a foot annually, reaching a height of about 8 feet.
The scientific name for a common palm is Dypsis lutescens, which is also referred to as:
- Areca palm
- Golden cane palm
- Butterfly palm
- Yellow palm
- Bamboo palm.

Originally from Madagascar.
