THE END OR THE BEND?
He stared at the flickering bulb above his shop... "Hmmm. God abeg." He sighed.
The shelves looked emptier than his pockets. He rubbed his face with both hands, fighting the thought that maybe this dream had already died before reality.
Beside him, Michael, his closest friend, kicked a stone across the compound... Frustrated; he had just checked his mail again, another rejection, another door slammed shut. All his years of study, all the sleepless nights, and still nothing?
Silence pressed on them like a weight. Two friends, one with unsold goods, the other with unused certificates, both crushed by the same question: What’s even the point of trying?
“Bro… maybe life is just determined to break us.” He muttered, breaking the silence.
Michael looked at him for a moment, then shook his head slowly. “Or maybe… it’s trying to shape us.”
The words landed heavy. Suddenly, he sat up, enthusiastic. He could almost hear his own heart pounding. “You’re right. Pressure doesn’t just break, it also makes diamonds. Fire doesn’t just burn, it also purifies gold.”
Michael's eyes lit up, a smile appeared on his face after a very long time. “Exactly. Maybe all this pain, all this waiting, all this struggle… is not proof that we’re finished, but proof that we’re being built for more.”
Finally, they chuckled, then their laughter broke through the night; not because their struggles vanished, but because they had found a new lens. The same darkness that almost swallowed them now became a training ground for their rise.
And when they finally lay down to sleep, they carried no riches, no job letters, no sudden miracles, but something far greater; the unshakable belief that no matter how hard life pressed them, they were still becoming.
Because here’s the truth: when life feels unbearable, it’s often because you’re standing on the edge of transformation. Don’t quit, don’t fold. What feels like the end… is often the bend that turns into greatness. And you will become greatness.
I believe.
Do you believe?
