The fight of three first sons

Jackson was a very rich man. He built a magnificent building, popularly known as Capital Square. It was a one-in-town building in those days. Many businesses were located in that gigantic multipurpose house which made it a centre of attraction.

Jackson also had three wives with many children which made his family compound looked like a mini-village. Quarrels and noises were common occurrences in that family, arising from differences among the family members.

These quarrels took a different dimension for the worse as soon as Jackson died. Each of the first sons from each of the wives came up with his own version of a will, purported to have been written by their father, claiming ownership of Capital Square.

In no time the matter was taken to court by the son of the third wife, claiming the building was willed to him. The son of the first wife too, went to court, not just claiming ownership but, got a court injunction restraining anyone from having access to the building. The court then, evicted every occupant in that building, and sealed it, pending the determination of the rightful owner.

The son of the second wife was not left out in the legal tussle. Apart from claiming he was the rightful owner, he swore to physically assault anyone trying to enter the building.

The case dragged on for years with high profile lawyers involved, supporting their clients in their own ways.

As years go by, Capital Square became a shadow of itself. It suffered untold decay due to neglect. Moulds, algae, rodents, reptiles, among others made Capital Square their abode or, should one say, their capital? Passersby always look at the building, talk about its rot, and shake their heads in disgust.

I'm sure in its rotten state, none of the sons will want the capital square anymore.

Well, I guess you're right, except that for a creative mind, there's room for renovation.

Such a waste, when they could have shared!

Yes. Sharing the asset would have been the right option.
