Would I consider myself an animal lover , the answer to that question is I love them from afar , Lol. Man's best friend (dog) is not one pet I really spend time with . Apart from the natural fear factor I feel I might find it difficult to maintain them because they sure do need a lot of care .
Over the years though I've always constantly thought of how I could make money from rearing animals . One animal I find interesting are rabbits. I like their way of living and their means to a way of earning money from rearing them. Most people where I come from don't know the economic benefits of rearing rabbits.
Rabbits are raised for meat, fur, manure, organic pesticide products, and pets. Rabbit meat is low in fat and rich in protein, rabbit fur is used for clothing and making accessories, and rabbit urine is used in insect control due to its pungent smell.
Rabbit manure is organic matter and improves poor soil structure, drainage, and moisture retention. It enhances the life cycle of microorganisms in the soil. Worms love rabbit manure. It is not as smelly as other manures and is easy to handle.
Due to these above facts about them I decided to make it one of my top priorities this present year. However I didn't know when but I knew I was definitely going to start this venture.
The other day , a friend of mine came to visit me at my house. While we were having a chit chat he noticed a courtyard in the house which had an open space . He asked me if I wasn't thinking of putting the space to use and I casually mentioned my rabbit rearing plan.
He told me he loved rabbits too and he won't mind rearing them as well . He promptly asked if we could collaborate and bring this idea to a reality. I bet you already know the answer I gave him.
Today we started the construction of the rabbit cages . We are excited to create a comfortable and safe environment for our future rabbits. Each detail is being discussed, from cage design to the right bedding materials, ensuring we meet the needs of our furry friends.
As we work on this project, we are also researching the best rabbit breeds for our climate and purpose.
That's the thing about this journey; it’s not just about the business aspect, but also about learning and understanding the needs of these animals. We plan to read up on their diets, health care, and breeding practices to ensure we are well-prepared for the responsibilities that come with them.
