I live naked and barefooted, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i, and I have for more than 5 years now. Although there are many challenges, I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙

Warm greetings all! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

For quite some time now the idea of learning multiple coding/programming languages, so that I'd be able to contribute in a deeper way to Hive, Qortal, and other sovereignty-driven blockchains and software, has been tickling my mind, coaxing me to explore it. While the idea has been buzzing around in my mind for years now, up until this point I haven't delved into any in any real depth. Part of this is due to not being sure of exactly which language and programming framework/development environment with which to start. So learning to code has mostly been in limbo, with no real advancement. Something is shifting in this regard, however, partly from being continually amazed at Bjorn's (@borniet) masterful coding magic, as well as getting another nudge from listening to Hive's Future: a discussion with Blocktrades on DHF, Smart Contracts, Growth, and More yesterday (Hive Thrive is a weekly podcast created by @shadowspub, @buttcoins, @ecoinstant, and @bookerman, hosted on the Hive Discord server), where @blocktrades was interviewed about his experiences of developing Hive over the course of several years. It was fascinating, and as I listened, I kept thinking that it might indeed be time for me to finally dive into learning to code.

The most relevant programing languages for me presently are C++ (Hive Blockchain layer 1), probably Solidity (Hive's layer-2 smart-contract side-chain, Hive Engine, VSC), Python (Hive's extended functionality), Java (Qortal Blockchain core), and Go (Qortal's new UI, with previous one being mostly written in Javascript). That's quite a lot of languages to learn, though fortunately many of them share a similar syntax.

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

If and when I am able to get myself up to speed and proficiency with these languages, my primary focus will be on Hive of course, with a secondary focus on Qortal, as it's a fantastic project with great potential. I doubt that I would be getting into any low-level work on these blockchains themselves any time soon, but rather on their dapps and extended functioning, especially in relation to the We Are Alive Tribe and MMB (Maximum Mutual Benefit) Projects, of which I am a part. This would hopefully take some of the pressure off Bjorn, since at the moment he does all coding work.

1000017712.jpg

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

My one hesitation about jumping head-first into learning to code is, well, time. I barely have enough to do what I need to do now, so making the time to learn and practice coding, and then later to devote time to particular coding tasks, is not the easiest proposition, at least at the moment. Presently I will have to simply carve small chunks of time on a regular and periodic basis, somehow, somewhere.

1000017715.jpg

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

I'm pretty sure that once I got my bearing, that I'd become quite good at coding, and given how my mind works, I might indeed come up with ideas, implementations, and ways of doing things, that had not been considered previously. The deeper that I go into Hive, and the stronger my passion for it grows, the more I want to dig into actually helping to build it. That truly excites me, and excitement is a good fuel for motivation.

Yesterday, Saturday, I left the Flow House, after wrapping up my Hive tasks, just a little after 2PM, giving my energy first to some photography for these posts, and for my entry in the Reflection Hunters Contest. When I had a nice batch of shots, I strained and blended kefir (kefir-honey-cinnamon-cacao) in the Landing, after which I got my machete and collected a wheelbarrow full of assorted edible foliage for cow-milking food. Once I had cow food done, I took a shower and a short asset-management break up at the Flow House, before going to clear Melekai's garden (that was buried in weeds) with my machete, and finally, to salvage and transport another wheelbarrow full of plants across the property from my derilict nursery to my original and recently-cleaned one behind the Landing. With that completed, I took another shower, made myself some food (a simply grilled-cheese, with pepper jack cheese, on sourdough, with mixed honey and horseradish mustards) in the Landing, and with that and my jar of leftover superfood fire coffee in hand, I headed back to the Flow House, just before sunset, to get into my evening Hive tasks, and to catch up on my notifications. I got everything done by around 9:30PM, and after writing and publishing My Entry for Reflection Hunters Contest: Round 209 - Banana and Coconut Reflections, doing some asset management, scanning my X feed, and asking Grok3 about the differences and similarities between the various coding languages on my radar, I finally went to bed, way too late, just after 1AM. I woke up just after 7AM, still feeling that I needed more sleep, doing more asset management, getting out of bed around 7:30AM to go make my superfood fire coffee in the Landing, before returning to the Flow House to write this post. It's now just after 1:45PM, so an excellent time to end this post, so that I may get to my few other important Hive tasks, before leaving the Flow House a bit later in the afternoon, to first give my attention to more photography for these posts, and then community/land work. I deeply appreciate y'all so very much! Until the next incarnation of this post tomorrow! Always forward, onward, upward, and whaleward, ho, together we go! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

2025 Life Goals

1.) Do regular integral practices again, alone or with others.

2.) Prepare regular batches of my medicinal teas collected from the land again.

3.) Make my plant nursery, and the gardens, beautiful again.

4.) Begin learning relevant coding/programming languages to more fully contribute to the sovereignty-driven technologies where I am active, like Arch Linux, Hive, Qortal, DeSo, and Bastyon.

Thank you all so much who have helped me get to where I am today, and allowing me to share more of the beauty and magic from my life and my world with you, and for your continuous appreciation and support! I am truly deeply grateful! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Success! @tydynrain(4/1) You mined .9 🟧 HBIT and the user you replied to received .1 HBIT on your behalf. You can receive 100% of the HBIT by replying to one of your own posts or comments. When you mine HBIT, you're also playing the Wusang: Isle of Blaq game. 🏴‍☠️ | tools | wallet | discord | community | daily <><

What's more, you found a ⚪ BLAQ pearl (BLAQ) as a bonus treasure token!

There is a treasure chest of bitcoin sats hidden in the game. Someone will find it. Happy hunting. 😃

You can see your random number generated in the Discord server, #hbit-wusang-log channel. Check for bonus treasure tokens by entering your username at a block explorer explorer A, explorer B, or take a look at your wallet. Read about Hivebits (HBIT) or read the story of Wusang: Isle of Blaq.

Hooray for learning to code!!! Python is fun! But C++ is the real McKoy! I'm currently also stepping into Solidity for some more Smartcontract-based development ;-)

Hahaha....thanks a lot, @borniet! Yep, that's kind of what I've been getting. Lower-level languages seem to have a more fine-tuned and granular control, which in some situations is very important. It's good to know that Hive-Engine smart contracts are indeed written in Solidity, and that's awesome about you getting into smart-contract development with it! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

That's indeed the disadvantage of lower-level languages... with greater control comes greater responsibility :-D

Indeedy, that's surely true, and I'd add care too, because someone can have awareness and knowledge, but without care, many a horrible thing can also occur. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
