I Am #AliveAndThriving Today! || #IAmAliveChallenge || Daily Off-Grid Jungle Journal Entry: Day #1076 - 10,200 HP Surpassed, and Lots of Newcomers - GaiaYoga Gardens, Lower Puna, Far East Big Island, Hawai'i - Tuesday, July 8, 2025

I live naked and barefooted, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i, and I have for more than 6 years now. Although there are many challenges, I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙

I crossed the threshold of 10,200 Hive Power yesterday afternoon, right on schedule, and much to my satisfaction, even though I've still got a very long way to go on my irrevocable quest for whaledom, and also quite far to go to reach my year-end goal of 15,000 HP. It is great to see my rate of HP growth continuing to increase, though, so things are going ever faster.

Over the past few weeks I've noticed quite a lot of newcomers appearing on the Blockchain, both from their posts and engagement in the We Are Alive Tribe, and from a higher-than-usual number following my account. While I'm finding that some of those who follow me are publishing a proper introductory post, I'm seeing many others simply trying the usual web2 tactic of testing the waters by publishing posts that makes it clear to me that they have not taken the time to look into how to start on Hive well, with no introductory posts, and/or publishing posts in improper communities, and without the proper or useful post tags. I've been doing my best to educate and encourage them in the right directions, but honestly it's a bit frustrating and overwhelming, especially with how busy I usually am.

Because I'm seeing so many newcomers, I created a generic response template, to share on their first posts, which I modify as needed, so I don't have to write the same thing over and over again every day:

I send you a warm Hive welcome! Congratulations on becoming part of one of the most exceptional blockchain ecosystems in the crypto world. Hive is a big ecosystem, with a lot to take in and learn, so take your time to understand it well, one step at a time. Your success on Hive is completely in your hands, and the more that you give to the Blockchain and its community, the more you'll receive in return. 

On Hive we can't succeed alone - we need each other, and in truth we rise by lifting others around us. The connections and relationships that we build and grow here are our true wealth, they're as important as the assets that we grow in our wallets, and they're directly connected, so don't neglect the human aspect of Hive. There are a great many excellent guides, tutorials, and walk-through on every aspect of Hive that I think would be very helpful to you. If you'd like, I could post a long list useful information, and posts to read. I hope that your time on the Blockchain is fun, fulfilling, and meaningful! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙 

I've been tweaking and changing it over time, to hopefully make it more useful for the newcomers with whom I share it, though it's still a bit hit or miss in terms of their respones, which is why I keep playing around with the wording. Honestly I don't think that most understand yet just how big a difference and shift that Hive is from the conventional web2 platforms.

I want everyone to feel welcome here, so I'm always gentle and kind with people, even when I see them making all sorts of errors in their first steps on the Blockchain, but man, some just don't seem to learn very quickly. Part of it is likely a language issue, which unless they speak Spanish, I can't do much to help them understand more clearly, though I really do try. Sometimes I just have to throw my hands up and continue on my way, sadly. I really want newcomers to get a good start on Hive, and to ground here well, but some just don't.

My experiences with so many newcomers highlights the great need for a solid framework for onboarding education, which I've mentioned before, and which I feel called to help create. It's a big task, however, and it's more than a little daunting to consider doing alone. It definitely needs to be done, though. There is a lot of very helpful and useful information on Hive already in this regard, but it's scattered here and there, all over the Blockchain, so unless newcomers are good at searching it all out for themselves, they generally don't find it. That's a problem, especially since there are so many aspects of succeeding on Hive that need to be taken into account, including social, financial, etiquette and best practices, among many others. Hive is complex, and while some seem to grok it and flow well with it from the start (like I did), many others seem to require a bit more assistance, which I'm always willing to do, I just wish that the process were a tad easier and more efficient. It teaches me patience, that's for sure.

Yesterday, Tuesday, I left the Flow House, after finishing up my Hive tasks, a little before 2:30PM, putting my attention first on some photography for my posts. When I had a nice batch taken, I went to Tutu's to do the dry-goods order for the Wednesday town run, after which I had to salvage the kefir grains from one of the experimental batches fermented in blended coconut meat, coconut water, and raw honey, since it got contaminated, and to restart it in only coconut water and honey, which seems to work much better. Once I finally had that done, I took a short asset-management break up at the Flow House, and then I went to help Ano for a few hours to install a sliding-glass door at his studio. After we got that mostly done just before sunset, I headed back to the other side of the property to make myself some food in the Landing (two simple grilled-cheese sandwiches, on sourdough, with pepperjack cheese, and mixed mustards), and with that and my jar of leftover superfood fire coffee in hand, I returned to the Flow House, to get into my evening Hive tasks, and to catch up on my notifications. I had quite a bit to do on Hive last night, aside from just notifications, so it took me until about 12:15AM to get through everything, and after some asset mananagement, I went to bed, way too late, a fair bit after 12:30AM. I woke up at 7AM, still feeling that I needed more sleep, doing more asset management, going to make my superfood fire coffee in the Landing, then heading back to the Flow House to write this post. It's now just before 12PM, so a marvelous time to wrap this up, so that I may get to my few other important Hive tasks, before preparing for a session that's scheduled for 1:30PM. 2025 Life Goals

1.) Do regular integral practices again, alone or with others.

2.) Prepare regular batches of my medicinal teas collected from the land again.

3.) Make my plant nursery, and the gardens, beautiful again.

4.) Begin learning relevant coding/programming languages to more fully contribute to the sovereignty-driven technologies where I am active, like Arch Linux, Hive, Qortal, DeSo, and Bastyon.
