Learning Hurdles
I have been pushing myself to learn how to use Hive, and someday build stuff that works with it. A project that seemed easy and would corelate well with my longer term goals and start getting my name out there more is the Hive Propolis Wiki. Great it is written in Markdown so it will be as easy as writing a blog post, or so I thought.
As I jumped in head first to writing I quickly realized Markdown is not just Markdown. There must be tons of them, like the universal wiki has markdown with CSS to add extra functions. Some versions to write 2nd is just 2^nd^ instead of all the sup tags. I think the sup tags are actually just html that is passed through. Some other differences I found include being able to create links at the bottom and just use the square brackets to create another link to the same spot instead of writing out [] () with the text and link every time. I think these are called reference links, and link definitions.
2nd
Lol always learning, even writing this blog post I just found out all it takes to add that code block with PeakD is pressing tab at the start of a line.
After about the 5th video tutorial and failing to make stuff work I started digging more into the subject of markdown instead of just writing the Splinterlands page. Now with all the edits and stuff my Idea of I can just manage version control through folders is looking more like I should have started using git from the start. Well just like planting trees the best time to do it was yesterday, but the 2nd best time is now! Time to learn Git/Github through vs code.
Speaking of Github, did you know they have static page hosting. Guess what it uses to write code for the page. Yepp you guessed it, they have their very own version of Markdown.
Now back to the real topic here, The Hive Wiki Project. As it turns out talking with some of the other team, I am just trying to do too much fancy stuff, and it really may be as easy to make as this post. My next task will be going back and trying out this new information. They are lacking people to write and post quality information in a formal way. If you are interested you can contact them through Discord, or read about editing he wiki here.
It is currently a very small group of people, but I feel the project is worth investing some time into. What better way to explore hive and learn than to take notes and practice the skills that you are learning. The best part is what you add may help speed the next person along in their journey.
