Blast Counter - Underdog Win!

When this match started, I thought it was over before I even submitted my team. His match history had multiple high level archons and units. Instead of just throwing in the towel, I put together the best team I could think of. A combination of Taunt & Deflect to minimize the damage from blast. Then a double tank set up in the front to soak the damage from his front line units. By splitting his damage output my front line should stay alive longer giving those units more chances to put in work.

When the teams popped up and I noticed he had scatter shot I was really worried about Thunderhoof Nomad getting killed by a direct hit. Watch the Battle on the Splinterlands website to see how it all plays out.

Round 1 and scattershot lands on my deflect and brings her down to 1 Health. Thankfully Kaylia Silverleaf has -1 to magic attacks. Most of his team is faster than me so before I even attack in round 2 my taunt is dead.

Things start looking up towards the end of round 2 with both of his front line units falling from 1 hit! Then at the start of round 3 burning blesses my by taking out Kha'zi Conjurer and spreading to Chaos Battlemage. This gives me the damage health and card lead really turning things around.

He takes out my first tank, quickly followed by multiple execute procs from my archon's bonus deleting his entire back line!

From this point on it is just waiting for Chaos Battle Mage to come back to life from his rebirth ability to quickly be put down again from the blast damage of Thunderhoof Nomad, and since his Emberguard only has 2 health left...

he falls to execute from my slowest unit left to finish up the game.

During this match I had 4 execute procs and only 1 of them missed. With a speed difference of only 1 it was a low chance to happen.
Execute can proc during blast games from the secondary hits as well!

Games like this are my favorite thing about Splinterlands. You never know who will come out on top until the very end of the match. By using good strategies you can pull off some major upsets. Even though I had higher mana cost cards at my disposal and had mana to spare this win would have been even less likely to happen without the taunt & deflect combo to soak up all the damage early in the first two rounds.

Another good choice may have been the life archon Bella Ratajowlski since all the units would have deflect, but my life cards are still very weak. Using multi-attack cards like Olivia of the Brook would be extremely strong for blast since she has the snipe ability also. Anachron Bolter is also a life card, but since she is an elf I was able to play her with my earth summoner. Snipe is another powerful offensive ability in the snipe rule set since it will usually hit 3 units.

I was lucky they didn't focus opportunity against me since I had Thanalorian Scion in the 2^nd position. The thought behind not switching them around was I wanted the Elves to stay alive as long as possible.
