The Situation Of Electricity In My Area
Hi Everyone,
It's with great pleasure that I'm welcoming everyone to my blog and I hope you're all doing well and having a great day. I will like to talk about some my experience regarding the issue of electricity in my area and big thanks to @tergan for bringing up this amazing topic to talk about in this week contest and I very happy to be taken part.
When talking about electricity, I believe that it is a big factor towards human day to day activities as it's majorly play a crucial role towards our life. Lack of electricity can be a huge inconvenience to human since we really rely on it to make life and things easier for us because most of what we used are more of electrical appliances.
Instead of me talking about the issue of electricity in my country, then I will rather discuss with you the issue of electricity in my area because I only knows about where I lived. But to say the fact, Nigeria electricity is not that bad but what majorly cause issues regarding electricity is due to poor distribution.
I happened to currently reside in my state capital Ilorin and the situation of the electricity is not that bad but it depends on the area you live because the situation of electricity in some area in my city is very bad and that's the category which I fall into.
Reliability
If I'm to talk about reliability of electricity in my area, I believe it is no going area because the situation is very bad. Due to unreliability of the electricity in my area, I have been facing a lot of challenges such as charging my phone and unable to use other electrical appliances. The most difficult challenges am facing right now due to poor electricity is being unable to provide my broilersbird with adequate light in their pen and this really affect their growth because growth occur during the night.
Expensive
I must confess that the electricity in my area is very expensive because we pay more than what we used. Though the invention of new prepaid meters has really helped many individuals in the country to solve the issue of electricity overcharging because you're going to enjoy the amount of electricity unit you bought compared to the old way in which the bill will be brought to based on the electricity you used and did not. It is very saddened to see the electricity organization to bring a huge amount of bills to be paid at the end of the month even where there is no light. The electricity in my area is very expensive and their is a news I heard recently about the increasing the amount of electricity unit due to higher dollar rate and other factors.
I think the best to lower your electricity bill here in my area is to get a new prepaid meters which the more the electricity supply then the more you will enjoy the electricity unit bought and in the absence of electricity, this means your electricity unit is save as well.
Like I said earlier the electricity in my area is very bad and really challenging as it is affecting both my business and my day to day activities. Today I have to patiently at one barbing salon shop which is not far from my place to charge my phone and power bank as I have to utilize the opportunity of the generator used by the the barber to carry out his work. It always bored me to sit down in one place charging phone, but since I don't have any other choice right now I think I have to get used to it prior to the time the issue of electricity in my area will be sorted out.
Thanks for visiting my blog and have a wonderful day
I really appreciate your upvote and support
@twicejoy cares ♥️♥️♥️
Am glad you mentioned the situation is not bad depending on the area you live in.. some people has actually used this as a business avenue charging others phone for 50 naira, like Anambra state this kind of business is rapid there
Am surprised this kinda business is not in illori, remote areas tend to surfer for electricity than the city, dont actually know why anyways it can be very annoying when there isnt electricity to charge only phone alone
I'm really curious about the 50 Naira to charge a phone. I was going to write a post tomorrow about alternative business models for electricity and cellphone charging was one of them. 50 Naira compared to the actual amount of electricity a phone uses is very expensive but then again might be worth it if people really need to use the phone!
Is it 50 Naira per hour? For a complete charge? Is it popular?
Be great to get an answer before I write my post tomorrow 😉
Either way, thanks for engaging, I really appreciate it!
Its 150naira for a complete charge where I live formally.
That has helped me stay online alot back then.
But the supply is better in my new place. And am saving up for a power bank.
When you are making the final decision on power bank I'd be honored if you gave me your choices first. I love looking at power banks :)
I will gladly do that.
Yeah #50 for complete charge and it's becoming more popular here in my area. Due to the high cost of fuel, they now charge #100 for complete charge. Am so sorry this is coming late.

Better late than never.
I actually made my post already considering using a bicycle generator to charge cellphones. If you have a moment I'd love for you to take a look at the post and give feedback.

at 50 Naira I found the numbers to be favorable to make money, at 100 Naira even more so.
.... but is it a decent job or total crap is the question :)
Hmmm so sorry for the late reply, going through some life challenges.
Well for your question, hope its not too late,
50 naira to charge a phone, was in Anambra and it stands pending when ever you want to pick it up. This was as at 2020, When things haven't escalated. But with the increase in fuel and subsidy bla bla i guess it'll be up to 100 naira or 150 pending till whenever the phone os collected.
In my opinion it can be lucrative if the area you're working as very low power supply or no power supply at all
Oh! and Thank you for thanking me☺️

Thanks for joining the conversation! Always glad to have new people dropping by and sharing their opinions. I think the prepaid meter is absolutely the way to go from what I've been hearing from others reports. Paying for electricity when there is no electricity seems like just a terrible slap in the face! I know the power station employees need to be paid but still don't give me service why should I pay?
I'm a big fan of making your own electricity and ignoring a monthly bill but it seems my love of solar isn't shared by my Nigerian brothers 🙂 Personally I love my portable solar phone charger.
As a side note:
I totally recognize the usb lightbulb I see in the photo
I have exactly the same one sitting in my cabin and run it off my USB power bank (which I also charge off solar).
Again,
Thanks for contributing.
Thanks so much
This is really portable. Am glad to see a USB light bulb for the first time.
USB lightbulbs are awesome :) Even better, you can run them on your power bank for hours (depending on the bank).
I think this is a cruel act from the.power holding company, paying for electricity bills and you are not enjoying it, getting a prepaid is better but the process is Sometimes difficult because they know this will cut their benefits short. Even after paying they still delay in giving it out. I could remember my dad paid for prepaid since 2012 and we got it in 2020 after series of petition and persistence before they finally gave it out to him. We are entitled to regular power supply, why are they depriving people, this can be frustrating sometimes when people try to reach out and my phone is always off
That's so absurd and the situation has even get worse presently. For the past few weeks, there is no glimpse of light
That's serious. I hope it will be restored soon
I hope so.
👍👍
See how the posts of most Nigerians here are filled with complaints. The state of electricity in the country is just too poor yet these officials come at the beginning of each month with fat bills.
It's awful
It is SAS to know that the poor state of electricity is affecting your business and the birds, hopefully you can find some alternative source of power supply.
I have been thinking of buy a small solar but let's wait and see how things goes
