My New Favorite Chess Openings ♟️

What's up friends!

Back when I was young I used to play a lot of chess and was somewhat good I guess but eventually life happened and I mostly ditched the sport, other than an occasional game here and there.

However, last month I started playing again on chess.com, usually a couple games before I hit the bed.

When I was young and naive my openings used to be quite conservative. The typical king pawn/two horse with white and the stonewall defense for black.

Sidenote, the stonewall defense is pretty good with plenty of interesting attacks mid game and it's quite intuitive. Even Magnus likes it despite the criticism it gets from higher rank players:

It's also good if you are prone to blunders :)

Anyways.

Lately I have been experimenting with gambit openings. Queen's gambit was also another favorite in my younger days but this week after trying various stuff I have found the following two openings to be really successful, significantly increasing my wins and my chess.com ELO.

What I really love about both is that they seem to get the guard of my opponents down. Giving them a fall premise that they are winning in material from the start... I bet some genuinely are like "this guy is dumb, it's gonna be an easy win". Often finding themselves attacked from everywhere and shitting their pants soon after! 😆😆😆😂😂😂

So, the first opening is with white and it might be something you have already heard if you play lots of chess.

The Danish gambit, here's a video by Gotham chess talking about it:

As I said, this is something you have probably heard. Lots of actions. Lots of attacks. Really fun to play as white!

So let's now move to black. This one super crazy!

And if you play Blitz you are just gonna love it! Again, super easy to learn and intuitive. And very few people are familiar with it resulting in some easy wins.

This is a "new" opening called madladn g-sling. Weird name I know, it's named after a chess player/streamer that came up with it.

In about half the games I played I managed to snatch the opponent's queen early. The rest, most were victories as I was developing normally while keeping the tempo due to direct and in-direct attacks to the queen.

Here's a video on the opening by the guy who came up with it

A really fun opening to play. Expect many rage quits from your opponents 😆🙃

So yeah, these are my two new favorite chess openings. If you like trying new things give them a try. You will have plenty of fu. 😆

Very cool! I haven't played chess in years now. I have been thinking about taking it up to keep my brain a little sharper and stave off dementia...

Never heard of the madladn g-sling before, but snagging the queen early is savage. Mad respect 💯😎
