RE: Red Car Theory

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

"How many red cars did you see on your drive?"

My mom used to say her Trans Am was “arrest me red.” She swore that red cars get pulled over by police more often.

One day I was driving her Trans Am, going just a couple miles over the speed limit, in the left lane on the interstate.

I got pulled over and the policeman literally said “If you’re driving a red sports car and passing other cars, I’m going to pull you over.”

I guess my mom was right, after all.

I actually wrote this post on the psychological effects of color.
Red is particularly relevant because it elicits native aggression.
The main idea being that when we see things like blood it triggers a fight/flight response.

The other really interesting thing I learned was that professional sports teams aren't allowed to paint the locker room of another team a different color. Before this rule was enacted someone figured out if you paint the walls Pepto Bismol pink it has a calming or even demoralizing effect.
