Hello travellers

I have noticed that since a while here in the west of Romania, festivals have started to be organized with a theme that emphasizes tradition, customs and products made by locals.

Yesterday being Saturday was the first day of the festival (the festival is split over two days) and included the official opening.

We couldn't miss the second edition either, this festival is held a week before we celebrate Easter.

The distance from my home to here was around 70km which I covered in about an hour, because on this Saturday the Mures Valley was quite crowded.

The location where the festival is held is the Royal Estate of Savarsin, also here is the Royal Castle but unfortunately it can not be visited because Prince Radu and Princess Margareta were at home (the castle is currently inhabited by them).

But from what I've read there is a possibility to visit the castle gardens and the King's collection of cars, but we will definitely talk more about this because it made me curious.

When we arrived near the castle it was very crowded, there were cars everywhere, we hardly found a place to leave the car (over 1.5 km from the castle), I forgot to tell you that access is free.

Let's go to the festival

At the entrance to the Royal Estate we were greeted by a very old plane tree and after a few steps we were already among the stalls of local producers.

We even have a map of the place here.

Yes, this festival focuses on what is produced by locals in a natural way.

At almost every stall if you see a product and wonder what it tastes like you should know that the vendors are very friendly and will give you a taste of every product they have on sale.

Know that you can come here with children because the organizers have thought about this aspect and have created several creative camps especially for them.

Let's not overlook the good mood offered by the very well-known soloists from Romania, who bring to the stage songs that are over 25 years old.

We had a great time at this festival and at the end we went home with something sweet, a Hungarian specialty, Kürtőskalács.
