First love at first sight

Most people never forget their first love. For some, they found their first love early; for others, it was later. It's always a great feeling when one falls in love for the first time. It feels exciting. You would want to be with that person all the time. You will think about them a lot. You would be willing to do anything just for them.

My first encounter with my first love is one I won't forget in a hurry.

One fateful day, while I was in school, I got a call in the morning. I picked it up and on the other end of the call was a voice I didn't recognize. She introduced herself as my classmate and asked to meet me, so she could hand over her documents to me. I was in charge of gathering some documents from the class for submission. I told her where to meet me in the afternoon.

The day turned out to be a hectic one. It was really hot in the afternoon. I was eager to go home, but then I remembered I was supposed to meet someone. I went to the venue we agreed to meet, and I saw a very beautiful lady walk towards me. I was stunned. She gave me her documents, we got talking, and I realized she was a lovely person.

From that day on, we kept talking, and we got really close. On two occasions, I forgot about her birthday. Coincidentally, her birthday is January 24th. It kind of brought us closer because she would tease me all the time about making promises for her birthday only to end up forgetting. In my defense, her birthday always fell on exam periods, and it got me very occupied.

She was the kindest person I knew. Always willing to help others. She rarely had issues with anyone. She had all the virtues one could ever ask for. She was very intelligent. She had such an electric brain. Always performing excellently well in her courses. It made me admire her the more.

She had my back a lot. There were times when I couldn't make it to class, and she would cover for me. She would give me notes, tell me assignments that were given, topics that were emphasized for exam. She basically carried me along, and it's something I was always grateful for.

We did a lot of things together. We prepared for exams together. There were times when we would have terrible exam results, and I would be unhappy about it. She would come to cheer me up despite the fact that she was affected as well. She was always positive no matter the circumstance and I loved that about her.

The sad thing about life is that nothing lasts forever. Unfortunately, time did its thing and we grew apart. Even though we are still friends, we are more like strangers. With the way things were back then, I never would have thought we would become strangers eventually.

All we can do is move on, and live life to the fullest.
