One Act Of Kindness That Shaped Me.

When I really sit down and think about my growing up years, there is one person that always comes to my mind, see ehn no matter how much time passes, she is a family relative, though not by blood or anything like that, but I have always called her aunty, And honestly, she is one of those people you meet in life and never really forget, not because everything was perfect, but because her impact stayed with me

So yeah, I remember the very first time I met her, it was not during any happy or celebrating moment at all, that time, It was actually during a very difficult time in her life, so she had just given birth to her son through CS, and because she is a plus-size person, the whole process was really hard on her body, Both she and the baby were going through a tough phase, someone close to her then reached out to my mom to come see her, because my mom was known to be very good with childcare, and having raised her own kids and that of her sisters and people around, she had experience and patience, so she was trusted.

So that day, my mom took me , and that was how I met my aunty for the first time, I remember how weak she looked, how tired, but still very gentle and soft spoken, and even in her pains, she was worried about her baby and grateful for every little help, that moment stuck with me because it showed me a kind of strength I had never really noticed before, she was not loud or dramatic, but you could tell she was strong in her own quiet way.

Then as time went on, we got closer, she was not just someone my mom visited anymore, she became part of our lives that period, she always checked on me, asked about school, encouraged me, and spoke to me like I mattered to her, and Sometimes it was not even about money or any big gestures, it was the way she spoke to with concern and care.

At a point things were not smooth between her and my family, some things went off, misunderstandings happened, and life happened the way it usually does, but still even with all that, I can never erase the good she did for me.

The biggest thing she ever did for me, and the reason I will always be grateful to her, was helping me finish secondary school successfully, there was a time when things were really tough for my parents financially, i mean paying school fees became a struggle, and it felt like my education might be interrupted the , without making noise or announcing anyone, she stepped in and paid my school fees, omo... that alone changed my life, because what if I had dropped out of secondary school?

See at that age, I didn’t fully understand how big that sacrifice was, Now that I am older, I do , school fees are not small money, and she didn’t owe me that responsibility, she did it out of kindness, out of love, and out of belief in me, because of her, I was able to stay in school, write my exams, and complete secondary school without being sent home countless times

See that is why, no matter what happened later, I don’t regret knowing her, some people come into your life for a season, but what they do in that season can shape you forever, she taught me, without words, that kindness can change someone’s future, she showed me that help does not always come from where you expect it.

So till today, whenever I think about how I managed to push through school during those tough times, her face always comes to my mind, and that is why she will always be that one person I will never forget forever , even if we don't talk anymore.
