My Compass In Life.LOH#251

So when I sat with this question, I realized that there are some certain kind of values that quietly shape every decision that I make in life, see they are not things I picked up from school or from a textbook, but lessons I have learned from experiences, mistakes, and sometimes even from watching other people, for me, the top three values that guide my life are hard work, honesty, and I think patience, and to be sincere, patience is the hardest one for me to practice consistently.

So let me start with hard work, I don’t think I have ever believed in easy success, from childhood, I have always knew that if you want something, you have to put in all the effort, be it academics, personal projects, or even just trying to make ends meet, I have always carried this mindset that nothing good comes without sweat, hard work, to me, is not just hustling day and night, it is about being consistent,it is about showing up even when you do not even feel like it, see for example, when I am writing or trying to push myself on Hive, I know nobody will clap for me if I do not put out content, I mean the effort is what brings the result, so in almost every decision, I just ask myself, “Am I really ready to work for this thing?” If the answer is no, then I know I am not serious about it.

The second one is honesty, this one is somehow very personal to me because I certainly just do not like pretense, I believe in being true to myself and to also to others, I am the type of person that, even if I make a mistake, I would rather own up than to lie about it, i feel like honesty just in a way makes life easier because you don’t have to keep covering up one lie with another one, I also try to live honestly in my friendships and family life, saying things as they are, even if they may hurt at the moment, this value has helped me avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble because I don’t go about pretending to be what I am not.

Now, the last one for me is patience, see honestly, this is where I struggle the most, I try to live by it, but it is not always easy. I don’t know if it is just me, but sometimes I want things to happen very fast, if I put in the work, I just expect to see results immediately, waitting has never been my strong point,and that is why patience is the value I find the hardest to practice consistently, for example, when I was waiting for my school results, I kept overthinking, worrying, and stressing myself, But what could I do? Nothing, It was out of my hands, and the only option was to wait.

Even now in life, whether it is about career, finances, or just everyday struggles, patience always tests me, I feel like life is constantly reminding me, “Good things take time.” and sometimes, I understand this lesson, other times, I still get frustrated. But I keep trying to practice it because I know impatience won’t take me anywhere.

If I am being honest with myself, I think patience and hard work go hand in hand, You can work as hard as you want, but without patience, you may give up before your effort produces results, and honesty ties into both because it keeps you grounded ,it stops you from lying to yourself about how much work you’re really putting in or pretending that waiting is easy when it’s not.

At the end of the day, these three values , hard work, honesty, and patience, are like guiding flames for me,they keep me on track, even if I stumble,they remind me of the kind of person I want to be and the kind of life I want to live, yes, I struggle with patience, but I hae also learned that it is okay to struggle, as long as you do not give up.

So, if you ask me what values guide my life, these are the ones. And even though I am still learning how to master them daily, they are the compass I hold on to, especially when this life feels uncertain.
