Father's are the Real MPV's

Omo, make we yarn about our Nigerian papas today and to every other dad in the world. On this Father's Day, let's give our undying love to all the incredible fathers out there who tirelessly provide for their children. Our fathers are the true MVPs, and today we're honoring them appropriately—from Lagos to Kano, Port Harcourt to Abuja!

Let's start by talking about that Nigerian father hustle, every even now , we all know what the country is saying, This males are oblivious to the meaning of "I can't." They work hard to ensure that there is food on the table and that school fees are paid, rain or shine, NEPA or not. Do you recall how your father used to get up early in the morning and straighten his clothes and shine his shoes? That's commitment, folks!

And let's not forget the legendary Nigerian father discipline. Chai! Who else remembers hearing "Is this how you'll behave in your husband's house?" or "You think money grows on trees?" These men invented tough love before it was cool. But you know what? Behind that stern face was a heart of gold, always wanting the best for us.

"My papa no be Dangote o!" is what I know some of you are thinking right now. But hear me out: what matters is the size of the heart, not the size of the wallet. What counts are the sacrifices made by your father, regardless of his size or status as a mere trader. Remember how he'd always make sure you got new Christmas clothes, even if it meant he had to wear the same old shirt?

Let's talk about those hilarious dad moments too. Who else had a father who would fall asleep during Africa Magic, snoring louder than a generator, but the moment you try to change the channel, his eyes fly open like, "Who touched my remote?" Classic!

And don't get me started on Nigerian dad jokes. These men are the original comedy central. From those corny puns to those embarrassing dance moves at family parties, our dads know how to keep us laughing (even when we're pretending to be annoyed).

But it's not all jokes and discipline. Our Nigerian fathers are also our biggest cheerleaders. Remember how proud your dad looked when you graduated? Or how he bragged about you to his friends at the beer parlour? That's pure, undiluted love right there.

We can't talk about Nigerian dads without mentioning their legendary bargaining skills. Who else learned how to haggle in the market by watching their father turn "last price" into "let me add small money"? These men could negotiate world peace if given the chance!

Let's also big up the modern dads who are changing the game. The ones who are not afraid to change diapers, braid their daughters' hair, or cook a mean jollof rice or tasty meal for the family, You're showing us that being a strong man also means being a hands-on dad, and we see you!

To all the father figures out there In Nigerian and all over the world - the uncles, the big bros, the mentors - we see you too. In true Nigerian fashion, it takes a village, and you're all part of that village raising us right.

Now, I know we Nigerians can be shy with the mushy-mushy talk, but today's the day to let it all out. Call your dad and husband's buy him that cold beer he likes, or just sit with him and watch NTA News. Sometimes, it's the small things that mean the most.

And to all the dads who are no longer with us, we're pouring out some palm wine for you today. Your legacy lives on in the lessons you taught us and the memories we cherish.

So here's to the fathers in the world - the disciplinarians, the providers, the jokers, the protectors. You've taught us how to be strong, how to persevere, and how to face life's challenges with a smile (and maybe a proverb or two).

To wrap it up, let me just say this: Dads, una try no be small! We may not say it often enough, but we love and appreciate you more than words can express. Happy Father's Day to all the amazing papas out there. May your remote controls never get lost and may your favorite teams always win!

Now, who's ready to fire up the gas for some Father's Day meal? I bet Dad won't say no to that!

They don't mind going an extra miles not minding the size of their pocket.
Their sincerity and the largeness of their hearts have made us love them more.

God bless Dads!

You remind me of my father with this piece. My father took out loans many times to care for his family. He is no more today, but his legacy is a shining light.

Happy Father's Day to the men who are doing everything possible to put smiles on the faces of their family.

Fathers are awesome, they are amazing 🥰🥰. Always working morning and night to put food on the table and fulfill other duties of theirs.

"Is this how you'll behave in your husband's house?" or "You think money grows on trees?"

When it comes to discipline, no worries cause they got it covered 👍😂.
Talking about the TV, it's always annoying. Just when you think that you have the TV all to yourself, you will hear his voice as clear and loud as always, and end up asking yourself if you actually saw him sleeping or it was just an imagination, lol.
