Why do white supremacists believe that Jesus is white?

I have always wondered regarding white supremacy in the United States (or anywhere else) and often their Christian beliefs that they seem have an illogical understanding where Christianity came from. In most cases they want to believe that he was white. The fact is that Jesus and all of the actors around him would have been Jewish with a dark complexion. 

Do they truly believe that Jesus is white or are they simply in denial?
