What is Topcomment?
The Topcomment curation service rewards meaningful and engaging comments on the Hive platform. It is manually curated by @topcomment to prevent abuse.

Which comments can get upvotes and which don't?
Which comments are eligible for upvotes and which are not?
Not all nominated comments will receive an upvote from Topcomment. While the concept of "quality" is subjective, there are a few key factors I consider when deciding whether to upvote a comment. Additionally, there are certain reasons why even a well-written comment might not be upvoted.
Here are the current guidelines:
Do's
1. Put effort in the comment
Be sure you have put some effort in creating a longer comment. There is no exact number, but a comment that is just a few words long won't get upvoted.
2. React to the content of the blog
The comment should be a thoughtful response to the blog post. It must engage with the content and provide meaningful interaction with the author’s ideas. It shouldn't be a reply telling your own story.
No upvotes for
1. Comments with hate speech, racism, conspiracy theories or other negative reactions
I strive to keep the community positive. Comments promoting hatred, racism, or conspiracy theories will not be upvoted.
2. Comments from users with Hivewatchers downvotes
I do not want to support scammers or fraudulent activity. If a user has been downvoted by Hivewatchers, I will not upvote their comment.
3. AI-generated comments
These comments will not receive upvotes, as they are not authentic human interactions.
4. Comments that already have significant rewards
If a comment has already received a substantial reward, I will skip the upvote. The same applies to comments that are part of the commentrewarder initiative.
5. Giveaways or contest entries
There are some initiatives asking you to submit your entry in the comments. These are excluded from Topcomment upvotes.
6. Commenting on own blogs
Comments from bloggers on their own blog will not be upvoted. It is only natural that you respond to comments on your own blog.
Support Topcomment with Delegations
The more delegations Topcomment gets, the higher the rewards we can give away!
You can use the following tool to delegate an amount of your choice or select one of the predefined amounts below.
https://thecrazygm.com/hivetools/account/delegate/topcomment/100
| 10 HP | 25 HP | 50 HP | 100 HP | 250 HP | 500 HP | 1000 HP | 1500 HP | 2000 HP |
Follow the Curation Trail
If you don't want to delegate you can also choose to following the Topcomment voting trail via Hive.Vote.
This way you do support the project and the commenters, but you'll receive the curation rewards yourself. In Hive.Vote you can configure a percentage for the votes.

Thank you so much @topcomment!!!💗💗💗
Happy to enjoy the content that besides keeping me entertained, allows me to be updated in the topic that I develop in anime, series and movies.
Congratulations to the rest of people who give life to the ecosystem with their contribution in comments and congratulations also to the team of curators and TopComment because I consider this to be vital in the continued positive evolution of hive 😎
I am grateful for the @topcomment mention because it is a recognition of our interaction with content that we like. Also, I consider that it is respecting the work of the content creators who dedicate time and effort to make their publications.
Happy weekend.
Cheers and best regards.
Greetings, I appreciate being included in the weekly report. I think feedback on each post is conveyed through comments; it demonstrates that each piece of content has been read and evaluated. This provides a reference point for measuring or assessing each user's work effort, as well as becoming the primary means of direct interaction among Hivers. Comments serve to establish relationships, launch projects and initiatives, and are also an authentic means of assessing loyalty to the platform and support for the growth of Hive Blockchain. @topcomment seems like an incredible initiative to support valuable user feedback and, through the weekly report, highlight their roles as active Hivers who want a better platform and believe in working together.
Thank you for the kind words!
Hello, I am starting to work on some analytics to try and figure out commenting patterns on HIVE, and to get some objective measures of comments. I'd love to hear contributions from the curation team on what makes a great comment, and whether I can algorithmically "score" good comments.
I am also keen to see if there's a correlation between good content and good comments.
I have a rambling post published as a preliminary, experimental study, but my overall goal is try and drive better comment quality, not only in the use of good language (but also in terms of comment depth) - a comment is not very valuable if it doesn't generate discussion.
Anyway, if you could check out my rambling and contribute some ideas to help make my analytical developments better, it would be much appreciated!
I'm really interested in that! I'll read your posts later!
We use some rules to decide what we consider a good comment. For instance it must show that the commenter has read the blog itself. They must reply to that subject (not reply just to tell their story or point of view) and they should have put effort into the comment.
I think this will be difficult to score this algorithmically. I use a script that collects all comments of 'a certain length' and sends them to our curation channel in our Discord server. From there we do a manual check whether there is real engagement. AI comments are also a thing recently. We've been spotting quite some 'long' comments that do engage with the author of the blog, but are AI generated.
That is why manual curation is important for rewarding comments.
Yes, I think there is. Although some subjects are more likely to get discussions in the comment than others.
We do see that larger stakeholders often get more comments. This could be either because they regularly upvote comments or that people want to be seen/followed by these stakeholders.
Also the interaction with the commenters by the author could be interesting to look at.
I can only agree with this. As you have seen I started following you since I find this an interesting matter. Keep me (or us) in the loop!
