Wisdom is not by age
Every day, we learn something new. No matter how much someone knows, there will always be others they can learn from. Learning is a continuous process, and no one has all the answers. One thing we must always remember is this: knowledge and wisdom are not tied to age.
Some people believe that because someone is older, they automatically know more or are wiser. But that’s not always true. Young people, even teenagers, can be full of knowledge and fresh ideas. In fact, some of the most brilliant minds in the world today are very young. Think about a 17-year-old student who tops the Cambridge examination, an exam many older people may not even attempt. How do we explain that? Clearly, age does not limit intelligence or understanding.
It’s easy to assume that adults should know more simply because they’ve lived longer. People often say, “Experience is the best teacher.” That may be true in some cases, especially when it comes to life situations. Adults may have faced more challenges, and they might know how to handle certain situations better, like dealing with emotional stress, navigating marriage, raising children, or making tough life decisions. These are areas where experience really matters.
However, when it comes to learning, critical thinking, innovation, or even spiritual insight, anyone, regardless of age, can offer something valuable. A child may teach an adult patience. A teenager might introduce a new way of thinking. A young adult can also share insights about technology, trends, or ideas that an older person may not be aware of.
We should never look down on someone just because they are young. At the same time, we shouldn’t assume that someone older knows everything. True wisdom lies in being open to learning from anyone, whether they are older or younger. The key is humility—the willingness to listen, reflect, and grow.
In today’s world, knowledge is easily accessible. With books, the internet, and countless learning platforms, even a 15-year-old can become an expert in something if they dedicate their time and energy to it. That’s why we must change the mindset that says only adults can teach or lead.
Yes, age and experience have their place. They can help us handle certain areas of life with more maturity. But when it comes to learning and sharing knowledge, age should never be a barrier.
Let’s learn to respect and value everyone’s contribution, whether young or old, because knowledge and wisdom are never age oriented. You never know where your next lesson might come from. Stay open and be teachable because life itself is a school, and everyone is both a teacher and a student.
Yes I, one of the greatest reasons why we need to be open minded. So we can learn something new everyday
