The One Life We Have
This life, truly, is one strange journey. We just have to try our best to be good to people because we never know who will be there for us in the future or who might come to our aid when life gets tough. Sometimes, the person you least expect could be the one to lift you when you are down. That is why I always tell myself to treat everyone with kindness, no matter how little it may seem.
Life is not something we get to live twice; it is a one-time experience. For that reason, we should live it to the fullest, not allowing worries or challenges to drain our happiness or limit how we relate with people. I have come to realize that no matter what we go through, life keeps moving on, and the only thing that truly matters is how we choose to live it and the memories we create along the way.
Just yesterday, I had a long conversation with a friend of mine in the UK. She recently started working and has been going through a lot emotionally since her father passed away. We began talking about life and how most of the things we chase every day seem like repetitions, we wake up, work, eat, worry, and sleep, only to repeat the same cycle. But her father’s death really changed her view of life.
Her dad was the kind of man who gave everything he had for the growth and comfort of his children. He wasn’t only a father to them but a blessing to everyone around him, even to people who weren’t related to him. He worked tirelessly to make sure his family never lacked anything. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to enjoy much of what he laboured for. He died at the age of 60, just a few months after retirement. Hearing that made me reflect deeply. Life can truly be unfair sometimes. You can give your all, yet end up with so little time to rest or enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Since his death, my friend’s approach to life has changed completely. She no longer worries about chasing everything at once or trying to please everyone. Instead, she focuses on enjoying life in her own way, taking time to rest, travel, and appreciate the world around her. She told me she now prefers to live simply and meaningfully, contributing to humanity in whatever way she can.
She also mentioned how grateful she feels for the chance to explore different parts of Europe, visiting places she had only seen in pictures before. Seeing nature, meeting people from different backgrounds, and understanding how short and unpredictable life is have made her value each day more.
That conversation really touched me. It reminded me that no matter what we face, we should make the best use of our time here. Be kind, explore life, and don’t let worries consume you. Life is not about how long we live but how well we live and how much love, kindness, and happiness we spread while we still can.

Yes, life is a one time experience. We shouldn't worry ourselves trying to pursue ambitions, achieving great things, and pleasing people. In due time, everything will fall in its place, and we'll look back only to smile at what we have now, that wasn't there in the past. The most important thing is to live happy, in good behaviours and characters, while also holding unto God.
I really feel for your friend. People die everyday. May her father's soul rest in peace. Amen.😒
