Onboarding

It is good to be good. I say this because I know how humans actually behave, especially when they realize you are doing better than them. I don’t know why people are filled with so much bitterness and envy once they see that someone around them is doing better.

I used to have two close friends at work. I got employed into the Teaching Service Commission about four years ago, and I can say that there is really no true friendship at work, as most people can betray you once money or promotion is involved. I had the privilege of working with an international organization where I was able to make some money and do something meaningful with it.

I also introduced a few of my colleagues to Hive, about three of them, but not all of them actually blog. It’s easy for people to ask where you make money, and when you tell them, only a few are willing to put in the work to make it happen.

Even the one who managed to post briefly eventually stopped.

So, a couple of weeks ago, a close friend of mine, more like a big brother at work, asked me to open an account for him on Hive. I think I had already done that for him before, but he didn’t even remember the password, probably because he never used it. I remember vividly that he once said it was for his wife.

Today, I was surprised to see him at my place. At first, we worked on Chrome for him to help someone upload to Draft2Digital. After we were done with that, he opened up that he wanted to open an account on Hive, so I did the onboarding using my own account to guide him. When I was done, I told him who to follow and how to make meaningful engagements since we all know how quickly someone can rise on Hive.

I told him about investing part of his Hive earnings and how he could actually meet new people, but I placed more emphasis on engagement, originality, and avoiding plagiarism or abuse.

As I am writing this, I have already explained to him how to make his first post; the introductory post. His username is @greatexcel360. He has yet to make any post, but I believe he will do so soon.

I'm really glad about this. Like you said, I hope I won't regret it as I tried onboarding more people in the past but only for them not to even turn up despite using my accounts to register for them. Thanks for the support at all times. I do appreciate it.
