Off-shoulder Flare gown with pocket

Materials used:
African Print
Matching thread and
Scissors

Cutting Procedures

Step 1: 3 yards of African print is folded into four squarely to bring out 2 pieces which will serve as the front piece and the back piece.
Placing the two pieces on each other, the tape was placed at the edge of the fabric to measure the neckline and cut out.
The burst measurement was marked as well. Since it’s a free gown, there is no need to take waist and hip measurements.
The fabric is free from the waist to the down part.

Step 2As an off-shoulder dress, two straps were measured and cut out to fit into the shoulder to hold the sleeve.

Step 3: The short sleeve was measured and cut out as well.

Step 4: Since the dress is a flared gown, the pocket was measured and cut out to give it comfortable wear for the owner.
The two pieces of fabric were cut out to serve as the pockets which shall be placed at each side of the hip.

Step 5: To give the dress befitting wear, a rope that will serve as a belt was measured and cut out as well.

Sewing Procedures

Step 1: The sides of the front piece were joined to the back piece up to the hip area to be able to fix the pocket.

Step 2: After fixing the two side pockets, the rest of the sides were stitched to the end.

Step 3: The straps were stitched to both shoulders and the sleeve was attached to the straps.

Step 4: The edge of the dress was hemmed all around.

The dress is comfortable to wear for non-pregnant and pregnant women. It is a casual dress.
