Life Happens, And Sometimes, It’s Not What We Expect
Life is unpredictable. Sometimes, you work hard, do all the right things, and just when you're about to enjoy the rewards, things fall apart. Bentil’s story is a perfect example. He was a dedicated worker who got promoted because of his commitment. But instead of being celebrated, his own colleagues turned against him. They plotted, and he lost his job. For a whole year, he struggled without work. His home became a place of sadness. Even his wife walked out on him. It was as if everything he had built suddenly vanished.
Then, when things seemed hopeless, a friend showed up. A simple act of kindness through some money and job leads brought a flicker of hope. Bentil didn’t waste the chance. He applied, and one of the companies invited him for an interview. He was finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
But life had another twist waiting.
From the moment he got to the hotel for the interview, things went wrong. Poor service, no water, no light, mosquitoes, and even a late driver the next morning, it all built up. Bentil was tired, hungry, and fed up. He snapped. He shouted at the receptionist and insulted the driver. He had no idea all of it was a planned test. The company wanted to see how he would react under pressure. That outburst cost him the job.
It hurts to hear stories like this. Sometimes, we think we’re being treated unfairly, not knowing we’re being tested. Bentil didn’t fail because he wasn’t qualified; he failed because he couldn’t manage his emotions when it mattered most.
That’s life. It doesn’t always give us what we expect. Sometimes, it throws in delays, disappointments, and strange tests just before the breakthrough. And yes, it’s also true that not everyone makes it through. Some people go through pain after pain and never quite get out. That’s the part of life we can’t fully explain; call it fate, destiny, or timing.
But even with destiny, we still have a role to play. Our choices, our attitude, our reactions, they all count. We don’t control everything, but we can control how we show up every day. We can choose patience over anger, wisdom over impulse, and humility over pride.
The truth is that challenges are part of the journey. No one gets a smooth ride all the way. But if we hold on, stay grounded, and respond wisely, we give ourselves a better chance to win. Bentil lost that job, but maybe that lesson shaped him for something better.
So yes, life is hard sometimes. But it’s not always out to destroy us. Often, it’s teaching us. Testing us. Preparing us. We just need to recognize the moment and rise above it.
