FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN
In my own despair
I looked up at the sky
The carefree birds mocked me from above
My emotions betrayed my composure
In my heart, fear screamed
The fear of the 'unknown'
The fear which kept me from taking a new step
A fear which held me like a caged bird

What unknown identities lie in the shadows
But yet cast a spell in my heart and keeps me from running
I know I wasn't scared of falling
For my falling is the beginning of my rising
But who can spell this burden in my heart
A burden that seems to hold my life
Now I live with the fear of the unknown
Lying in the shadows with their identity hidden

Fear of the unknown is real. It holds her heart in its grip as if daring us to move forward and face the awaiting death.
But we have control. We have control over it, for it is our lives. Better said than done it may seem. But, it can be done. We just have to face our fears.
