Cutting and sewing of the fabric
Step 1:
The front part of the skirt was cut first with the measurement of Waist 38 and Hip 43 using 42 as the length with the lining. The lining was sewn to the fabric and turned out then ironed.
Step 2:
I folded the fabric into two leaving the zipper allowance then placed the front part on it to cut out the back piece with a seam allowance of 2 inches with the lining. The lining was sewn to the two pieces and turned out then ironed
Step 3:
I used burst 43.5 divided by 4 + 3inches seam allowances to fold my fabric for the cutting of the upper front bodice
On the folded fabric since it’s an off-shoulder, 8 inches was measured out before taking the horizontal measurements. I measured the bust point,
the underbust, and the waist with a one-inch seam allowance
Taking the vertical measurements, nipple-to-nipple measurements were marked down to the waist which is a 4-inch half-inch allowance because of the big burst.
The burst was marked on the bust point, and the underburst and waist were marked all divided by 4 +3inches allowances.
The front was shaped from the armhole down to the nipple to the nipple point to give it a princess dart effect.
All the linning to the cut fabric was also cut and sewn to each piece turning them to the right side then ironed
Step 4:
Folding my fabric again into 2
I placed the front bodice on it leaving 1.5 inches at the edge of the dress and 2 inches at the waist for zipper allowance and I used the front part to cut the back bodice. The lining was cut out for the two pieces, sewn to the fabric, turned out to the right side and then I ironed them out.
Step 5:
Two straps were cut out and sewn to hold the off-shoulder to which the ruffles were attached. It was sewn at half an inch then turned to the right side and ironed out.
Step 6:
For the Ruffles:
a. I used 5 yards of organza
b. To make the ruffles a full effect I divided the 5 yards into two to make it 2 and a half yards and to have an excessively longer length. It was joined together at the edge and also sewn vertically then turned and ironed out.
I marked 9 inches up to 35 lines and gathered on each line to make it ruffled.
c. a base of 10 inches folded into two with the length of the round shoulder which is 46 + 3 inches was cut out and sewn and turned out to iron out. Each line of the ruffles was sewn on the base leaving 1 and half inches intervals.
Step 7:
The ruffles have been sewn on each baseline to bring out its full effect and were attached to the Round shoulder.
Step 8
Having joined the upper bodice and the skirt together at the waist. The zipper was fixed to the back piece of the dress.
The back slit of the dress was sewn accordingly and hemming gum was ironed to the allowance of the slit to make it lay.
Alas! The dress was ready to wear.
This off-shoulder ruffled gown was sewn purposely for a wedding party.
