A Reflection on an Unusual Sunday and Life’s Lessons
Sunday is traditionally a day of worship and praise to God, our Maker. While there is no specific day mandated for worship, the Bible emphasizes the importance of gathering in fellowship as its stated that wherever two or three are gathered in His name, He is present among them. Worshipping with others strengthens our faith and brings a sense of unity in devotion.
However, today was different for me. I couldn't attend church, not for any compelling reason other than waking up late. In my own perspective, I dislike going to church late because I believe Sunday School is an essential part of the service. Missing it feels like missing the foundation of the entire worship session. The reason for my fatigue might be the work I did in my garden yesterday. After all, the body isn’t made of stone—it needs rest, and no one can escape the demands of nature.
Yesterday, I also reconnected with a friend I hadn't spoken to in almost two years. When she called, I was surprised and jokingly asked if she was still in the country since I assumed she had travelled abroad. She laughed it off, but her voice carried a hint of sadness. Concerned, I asked what was wrong. She began to share her struggles—she had yet to secure a job since our graduation and described the challenges she had faced during this period.
In response, I shared my own journey over the past year, which was far from smooth. It was a tough period filled with challenges that words alone could hardly convey. Yet, through it all, I managed to keep going by the grace of God, holding on to faith even when things seemed bleak.
My friend then asked if I could help her in any way. As a married woman and nursing mother, her circumstances made finding immediate opportunities difficult. I told her about Hive and the trading activities I engage in, but I was honest about the risks involved. Since she wasn’t familiar with cryptocurrency or internet-based ventures, I suggested we meet in person so I could explain things properly.
Our conversation reminded me of the value of friendship. She had been a wonderful friend back in the day, and I appreciated every moment of our connection. Life, however, has no manual. It unfolds unpredictably, and no one can fully anticipate what tomorrow will bring. That’s why we should never look down on others—we never know when we might need their help. Even if we can not offer direct assistance, we should respond with kindness to provide comfort rather than frustration.
Life, as a teacher, moulds us with its lessons of resilience. It reveals that existence is far more complex than simply waking and sleeping each day. Many people are quietly enduring struggles we might never understand. It’s unwise to judge them because life often throws challenges beyond one’s control.
Another reality I’ve observed is the ingratitude that can sometimes emerge from people. Despite offering help, some individuals may feel entitled to more, even when their contribution to your journey was minimal or non-existent. Yet, it’s crucial to remain grounded and focused on the positives.
Ultimately, life’s trials remind us to stay humble, extend compassion to others, and keep faith even when the road seems rough. Through grace and resilience, we grow stronger and more empathetic, learning that the journey is as important as the destination.
