Quote of the Day - A lesson about kindness and generosity

“I heard my mom asking our neighbor for some salt. We had salt at home so I asked her why she was asking.
She told me, "They don't have much money and they sometimes ask us for things. So I asked for something small that wouldn't burden them. I want them to feel as if we needed them too. That way, it will be much easier for them to ask us for anything they need."

This really moved me. Being kind to others and helping whenever you can is a great thing but this short story gave me a whole new perspective on the topic.
Sometimes, the best way to help someone is to let them help you. I never had to deal with that feeling so I can only imagine what it's like but I believe feeling of useless must be one of the worst things in life.
Creating these small opportunities to let others help you and feel useful is a very noble act and can change someone's day for the better. You never know what people are dealing with and sometimes all they need is feel like they are doing something for others so they are reassured they can get help too.
