LOH #236: What a Beautiful Story Behind the Photos
Today the sky around me is clear and the air is not so humid. So I feel like it's the perfect day to tell you about my last trip.
Although the last trip I did was at the end of 2024, I really want to tell you about it because it was my solotrip for one week in three cities.
In the past, I used to go on solotrips to various cities, and after a long time, I finally travelled again last December 2024. Starting from Yogyakarta, which has thousands of sweet stories of people.
I took two days for Yogya which then continued to the neighbouring city: Solo or SUrakarta. The last one was a city close to mine: Semaranng. It was quite an emotional journey at the time. The end of the year was full of bitter pills and I needed something to release my stress.
You know what's best about travelling, the good people we find in the process. In a strange city and we are alone, we don't expect much but to be found with good people. And that happened in almost every city I visited.
However, the most memorable was Yogyakarta. There is a sweet story that I met there. I remember it was Friday, and suddenly my distant cousin's brother informed me that he was performing the Ramayana ballet at Prambanan temple. I who really wanted to see my sister dance suddenly thought quickly about how I could arrive at Prambanan on time while, I was still in the centre of the city and the sky was starting to drizzle.
If I took public transport like the trans bus, it wouldn't be enough time, or if I chose to take a taxi, it would be the same: not enough time. I finally got an online motorbike delivery app called gojek. I was already worried that no one would pick up my order because it was starting to rain and the distance was tens of kilometres. In normal cases, I wouldn't want to order a motorbike because the driveer would be caught in the rain, but because of the urgency, I was forced to order this service. Daan... you know what? Turns out there was a driver who wanted to take me to Prambanan! In the rain and darkness. He seemed to be the gift that God gave to treat the wounds I brought to Yogya.
While travelling in the rain, this driver was very kind and patient to drive me painstakingly. Until I thanked him many times because of his kindness and generosity so I thanked him many times. And do you know what the driver said to me? It's like this...
‘I know you must be a good person too, so you deserve kindness everywhere.’
After saying goodbye and the driver left, I cried a lot that day. I was touched by the middle-aged man who drove me to Prambanan. How did he know I was kind when I was also doubting myself if I was good enough in this world?
Although perhaps it was just a word of comfort, but I took it as a word of comfort that became my prayer and strength. May the driver always have much fortune and be blessed with health.
And because of the driver's kindness, I was able to enjoy Prambanan at night, and meet my beautiful cousin and her cute daughter.
To be honest, there's a lot that impressed me along the way, but I wanted to write this down first. Thank you for reading my writing, see you in the next article.
Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
