Good Interior Of Semarang City Library

Hi, architecture and design lovers... This time I will invite you to enjoy a quiet and comfortable place.

Even though it's been a while, it's okay if I can only share the story now. Although this was not on my visit list, but because this option suddenly came to my friend's head, of course I agreed.

After leaving the Indonesia Kaya park and seeing some young kids creating various dances, we headed to the library. Of course, like a government library building, there was nothing special about the facade. However, there is a sign in the form of a small, colourful pillar with the words Archives and Library Service.

Once inside the first room on the first floor, there is an information desk manned by library staff. And there are rows of chairs like in a waiting room.

Heading to the second floor, there is immediately a sign that reads ADULT SERVICE ROOM. Which is probably meant for this section of the library for visitors who are not children. At the front before entering the book room there are rows of lockers. All the lockers are made of wood and each locker is equipped with a lock. While on the other side there are lockers with iron material.

I, who hadn't been to the local library in a long time, was very happy that this kind of crucial facility was still well maintained. After putting my bag into the locker, my friend and I went inside and had a look around the book collection.

The first impression upon entering was: neat, cool, quiet, and clean.
As for the reading room, it is divided into several rooms. However, the biggest one is closest to the entrance, a reading room with a wooden table covered with glass and a row of soft red chairs with shoulder rests. The floor is covered with wood, but it's not parquet, it's a thin wooden platform-I don't know what function it serves, maybe for comfort or do you know of any other function?

At the top, a kind of roof frame is made, it seems like this is still just a variation of the room, right? On the right and left sides are rows of shelves containing book collections of course.

However, something intrigued me as I walked to the corner. It turns out that there is another table model that I haven't seen in a long time. A two-tiered table that looks functional. Let's say we want to put our laptop at the bottom, the top layer can be used to put books or other items, so it's not cramped.

Another part is a table with an independent book borrowing machine. So, prospective borrowers only need to input data such as book titles and membership numbers. In addition, there is also a table with a computer that is used to search for book titles.

But what interested me the most was the shelf model on the left side of the room. The shelf model is unique in my opinion. What is this model? In this area, the reading table is a chairless model. There are only bean bags and short tables on a red carpet.

There is something else unique in this building. Namely, a bridge from the second floor that goes directly to the main road. This is a bridge that was just finished in 2024. A building expansion process that was then inaugurated in November 2024. So when I visited, the bridge was only one month old. Waah... this is very new.

On the right and left sides were the words WELCOME LIBRARY BOOK KNOWLEDGE. What I find memorable is the combination of two different colours but still in one gradai. Fresh green and bright yellow that can invite visitors to keep their spirits up...

After relaxing and reading books for about an hour, I decided to go home because the sky looked cloudy.

Thank you for reading my writing. See you in the next article....

Attractive library facilities, I got to thinking about the floor that looks like parquet in one of the areas but the truth is that it could be there for aesthetics or as insulation or as a platform over a free space because wood laminate or vinyl flooring could be an option.
