A Typical Day During Holiday

Hello, Asean mates...

It's been a while since I wrote in this column. However, since I've also been missing it, today I'm going to write a fun weekly challenge. Today in particular, I will be writing about a typical day at home during the holidays.

Apart from talking about food and other things, there is an activity that the younger members of my family are very fond of: going to the rice fields.

Special for today, my two nephews wanted to go to our family's rice fields. Early in the morning, we woke up and prepared with various supplies, such as drinking water and snacks. Indeed, the location of the rice field from our house is quite far, so the six of us rode three motorbikes to the rice field.

When we got there, we took off our footwear, and began to enjoy the cold, slippery mud of the rice fields. My two nephews seemed to really enjoy m=bemrain with mud and dirty dirt there is a saying, dare to be dirty is good.

So, on the way to the family's milih=k field, we joked and looked for snails along the way. We also uprooted cassava that had been deliberately planted by the cultivators of our family's land. We were allowed to take some home with us.

The rice fields, some of which had already been harvested, and some of which were waiting to be harvested, were drenched in a warm sun that was very comfortable on the body, the morning sun with clean air. The six of us; my mum, me, my sister, my brother-in-law, and my two nephews took a short break in our rice fields. We also greeted some of the farmers that we already knew.

Towards noon, we went home because our feet were starting to itch.

After arriving home, of course my sister and I cooked. We were going to have a gathering for a recitation event in the village, so my sister and I were busy making some food, such as dumplings, risol filled with vermicelli and so on.

I also took the trouble to make a cake that had long been on my list: cheeseburnt cake. I've already prepared the ingredients, so it's just a matter of execution. Even though I don't do much baking, I felt like it would work...

The other members and I shared our duties at home. Akmi had a very ordinary day and was rather relaxed because it was still in the Eid atmosphere.

In the late afternoon, my brother and I cycled to a famous dam in our area. Kaliwadas Dam is located about seven kilometres from home. By evening, of course, we all had to be home and gathered.

That was a typical day at our house. How about yours?

This is the best experience of being a kid in the province. Going out to the rice field and getting your feet in the mud. Playing and running after one another. Provincial life is so much fun.

I agree. I am also grateful, because in my days in the capital, on certain days such as holidays I can travel to my hometown which is quiet and at the same time can be for healing.

Waking up early and going to the rice field sounds like a good plan for the kids too. I miss eating cassava; it was nice that you could just pick it conveniently. The early morning sunlight feels good on the body. It was a productive day for you with the presence of family members around.

I'm also proud that my children love rice fields. I want to introduce them to the environment, nature, and how to love the earth and food resources. thank you for your appreciation.

Oh, how I miss the farm life 🤗.. I remembered the first time I went to my husband's hometown. We needed to cross 3 rice fields before reaching their house 😜, he offered to give me a piggy-back ride to avoid getting my feet dirty.. aww, so sweet, right?! 😍. But at the second rice field, he slipped and we both fell into the mud 😂🤣 My sandals got stuck in the mud and it took him a few minutes to take them out 😆😆
