My Sketchquest Entry: Weekend At The Park

This is how I made my drawing:

Picnic at the park was my theme for this sketchquest drawing so I thought about family day or whatever group of people there might be as long as they are showing some good time together doing what makes them happy or simply fill each idle moment. Here you see the blanket theme is all around and families spending some lazy moments together. Gadgets, food, sleep, lounge, chit chat or simply walk.

I am happy at this point that my line drawing is filled with the details I find joy in. The daddy on the lower right hand is sleeping could be tired because had an over time work last Friday night and today Saturday is their bonding time but he is too sleepy and tired so he grabbed his favorite pillow and went to snooze. His kid is listening to music with his ear piece and munching on his favorite snacks. There is pizza, popcorn, soda, burger and more sandwiches. It is not a perfect world so two of them did not have a mother figure but if you look at the top there is a mom there with two kids whew I forgot to add a dad. There is also this woman standing it seems like she is alone and looking for a spot to sit.

I added this shade of green first as the grass it is important for me to establish this color first as all the other base colors will need to work well with it. I chose a dusty green because I plan to add big and longer shadows later.

This is the part where I adjust the colors so they work well with the grass color. If you scroll up to the finish drawing you will see there the shadow I was talking about. That was the last step I added a layer on top of everything and drew that thick and long shadow. just random shadows although I could have shaped it to look like a tree or maybe tall buildings. This one looks just fine.
