Because of my physical identity.
One Nigerian language I want to learn. Hello, dear friends, It's been a while since I posted in this community, for reasons best known to me, but by his grace this new year, I will continue from where I stopped, and thank you for always supporting my blog. The theme for this week says. Another language you want to learn. Some people want to learn a language because they love the language, but for me, my reasons are different. Two reasons why I want to learn This particular Nigerian language I want to learn not because I like or love it but because of what they did to me, and again, I kind of look like them.

This language is none other than Igbo. Igbo people are originated from the eastern part of Nigeria and Igbo language is one of the major languages in Nigeria. My first reason for learning this particular language is. I kind of look like them; most of the places I go to, I am always being addressed as an Igbo lady. In fact, some don't even ask me where I am from; they just start speaking the language to me because of how I look like them, so this is my first reason for wanting to learn an Igbo language. For the second reason is, I have seen so many Igbo, but they are really not nice. Some of them, while talking to them, end up insulting you in the language because they know that you don't know how to speak the language or because you don't understand what they are saying.

Some scenarios happened to me, and I really do not enjoy what those Igbo people did to me; that is just the reason why I want to learn how to speak this particular language. First, some years ago I went to the market to get some fabric for myself, a fabric that could have cost me nothing less than five thousand naira, but I ended up paying ten thousand naira because I met a dishonest Igbo businessman, and that was not my first time encountering such with an Igbo man. It seems like they have a spirit of wickedness, or what? I don't even know how to explain it. Out of the hundred Igbo people I have met in my life, only twenty are honest.

Something happened some time ago again in a local market that makes me question the kind of conscience that some Igbo people are working with. So there was this Igbo woman, who didn't look like Igbo at all if not mentioned; she is dark in complexion, and you know most Igbo people are light in complexion. So in that market, the woman usually goes there to make hair for money, and the other Igbo women were not aware that the woman is an Igbo woman. Anytime she goes there to make people's hair, they end up insulting her, or makes mockery of her because she makes hair for a living.
They continue doing that for like three to four months or so until one day when she couldn't take the insult anymore, and she fought one of the women there for calling her a useless woman just because she makes hair for a living, and the woman later informed them that she is Igbo too and advised them to stop insulting people because they don't know who is who. Another one that happened to me last December was very annoying, and I vowed from that day that I must learn this particular language, Igbo.
So it happens that we did some Christmas contributions, for food stuff and other things for the festive season. And most of the women there are Igbo, and I didn't even know that one of those women was actually talking about me, saying I have a big bum-bum, and they were laughing seriously and annoyingly, so I asked one of them what was so funny, and she told me that the other lady was talking about my bum-bum and how it is big. As funny as it sounds, I was offended. I mean, that was not why we were there, and why did she just say it in English, the general language? We ended up exchanging words with the lady, which I later regretted and apologized for even when I knew that she was at fault for talking about my bum-bum right in my presence.
And one bad thing I've also noticed about these Igbo people is that they don't help for free; they mostly make sure to get something in return for whatever help they render to you. So yes, the Igbo language is one Nigerian language that I want to learn because of the unpleasant experienced I encountered with them. And I want to learn This language not to be wicked, but to protest myself from the evil ones. Thank you for stopping by. See you next time. Bye.
Sending you Ecency curation votes.😉

Thank you.
This made me to chuckle. Is this true? 🤣🤣
I love the Igbo language too and I'm glad I understand it to some extent
I love the language but don't like the people. 80% of Igbo people are light skin. Thanks for stopping by.
I lived in Enugu but couldn't speak Igbo because it is hard
Really... I'm already learning how to speak it.
Yes you're right, Igbo people don't help for free. I will people once mistook me also as Igbo when I first got admission to my school. They always tell me I look life Igbo I always feel like me Igbo for where. Because of that I once stood in front of my mirror and start looking at my face and talking to myself loudly, Tosin they said you're an Igbo. Honestly, not only Igbo does this thing. Anytime someone know that you don't understand their language they make sure to insult you in their language because they know you can't understand it.
They don't ooo I have had so many encounters with them when I needed help, they most make sure to benefit from the help they are rendering you.
Everywhere I go people usually call me Igbo.
Well to me, Igbo people's insults is to much, that is an irritating and irresponsible act. Thank you my darling for stopping by.
Having a big bum bum isn't a crime, she's just being a sadist. You should have thanked her so she'll feel offended. Goodluck ma'am 🙏
Smile, I was offended because she said it in a language I didn't understand. Thanks for stopping by.
