Time to plant onions
Hello friends. I said that I would share more posts in this community with the arrival of spring. The place where I live is a suitable place for agriculture and animal husbandry. In fact, there is not much of an area other than agriculture and animal husbandry. There is no heavy industry at all. As such, people have to engage in agriculture to sustain their livelihood.
We have a detached house with a garden. We plant small-scale agricultural products in our garden that we will consume in the summer. We do the digging of the field with a shovel. In larger agricultural areas, field scraping is done with more modern machines.
After the field digging process is completed, channels are opened where the onions will be planted. This is needed to water the onions practically. Onions are planted in the opened channels.
Onion seedlings as seen in the image. There are people who grow these seedlings. People who live in warmer regions than where I live do this kind of work. Then they bring them to the market and sell them.
After the transplantation process is completed, we leave pieces of branches on the transplanted area. To prevent animals from damaging the planted area. Chickens and birds find digging a place interesting and attract their attention. They start digging that area even more. In such a case, they prevent the onion from growing efficiently. We also use this method as a precaution. After the onion seedlings are well rooted, we start removing the branch particles. After a while, these branches prevent the onions from growing, so they need to be removed.
Onion leaves begin to ripen within two months. We benefit from these onions until the end of August.
