The Harmony of White and Brown - Winter Landscapes in the Caldera

I spend most of my free time in the Nemrut Caldera. Sometimes I try to make time to go there. Going there gives me a lot of positive feelings. Being alone with nature, away from the city, the crowds, and the noise, while also listening to the partridges sing, is truly enjoyable. The Nemrut Caldera has a different beauty every season, every month. Being there between December and April is dangerous in many ways. Going there without protection during those times could cost you your life. There are meters of snowfall, and it's easy to become prey for wild animals.

A few weeks ago, the city experienced sleet. When it rains, it usually snows here. Because of the high altitude, the roads here were closed for a long time. They were reopened three days before my visit. I agreed to come here after my friends suggested it. It's dangerous for cars with summer tires. The roads are snow-covered in some places, and icy in others.

Snow falling on the dried grass and astragalus has created a stunning sight. White and brown-cream are harmonious colors. When combined, the image becomes even more aesthetically pleasing. While there's little snow in some places, there's plenty in others. Wind-driven snow is a contributing factor.

Snow is almost absent on south-facing slopes. North-facing slopes are covered with snow and remain covered until late June. Wild animals and birds prefer south-facing slopes for winter shelter. Bear dens are common in these areas.

This area is also covered in snow. This is due to its north-facing slope and the late morning sun. It was quite enjoyable to visit the Nemrut caldera after a long absence. Being there alleviates negative emotions while intensifying positive ones. Once you leave, the emotions return to their former state.
