Mountains Covered in Snow. A Winter Classic.

While cleaning the roof of my house, I realized that I was surrounded by mountains. All the mountains were covered in snow. The snow melted quickly in the rocky, stony areas. The only places where snow was missing were those areas.

A house located right on the side of the mountain. So much snow has fallen that the house is almost invisible. Actually, it's built like a house but it's a farm. They raise cattle here.

Dağın hemen yamacında bulunan bir ev. Kar o kadar çok yağmış ki ev nerdeyse görünmez hale gelmiş. Aslında burası ev gibi inşaa edilmiş ancak bir çiftlik. Büyük baş hayvan besleniliyor burada.

High-altitude mountains and houses built on the mountainside. The biggest danger for such settlements is avalanches. I haven't witnessed an avalanche here before, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. In winter, the winds coming down from the mountains are quite strong. It's difficult to be outside on stormy days. They are strong enough to dislodge a small child. Uncontrolled logging and intensive goat farming have led to the mountains becoming devoid of trees. The absence of trees in the mountains and plains results in strong and powerful winds.

Yüksek rakımlı dağlar ve dağın yamacına kurulmuş evler. Bu tür yerleşim alanları için en büyük tehlike çığ olayıdır. Daha önce burada çığ olayı yaşandığına şahit olmadım ama bu olmayacağı anlamına gelmez. Kış mevsiminde dağlardan inen rüzgarların etkisi oldukça sert olur. Fırtınalı günlerde dışarda durmak zordur. Küçük bir çocuğu yerinden oynatacak kadar etkilidir.Bilinçsiz ağaç kesimi ve yoğun derecede keçi beslemek dağların ağaçlardan yoksun olmasına neden olmuş. Dağlarda ve ovada ağaç olmayınca sert ve etkili rüzgar oluşuyor.

These places are ideal for those who want to do mountaineering and similar sports. They are just as beautiful as the Swiss Alps. Skiing is also possible on these mountains, which retain snow cover for a long time. However, there is a serious problem with facilities. Türkiye's longest ski slope is here, but the ski resort has been closed for years. If a solution could be found, it would be wonderful to be able to ski while watching Lake Van on one side and then cross over to the other and admire the Nemrut Crater Lake. Bringing domestic and foreign tourists here wouldn't be difficult. Since the mountains are covered in snow, it would be a shame not to take advantage of it.

Dağcılık vb benzeri sporları yapmak isteyenler için ideal yerler. İsviçre Alpler'inden eksik kalan yanı yok. Uzun süre kar örtüsünün kaldığı dağlarda ayrıca kayak yapmak mümkün. Ancak tesisleşme konusunda ciddi bir sorun var. Türkiye'nin en uzun kayak pistini burada ancak kayak tesisi yıllardır kapalı. Buna çözüm bulunsa ve bir taraftan kayak yaparken Van Gölü'nü izlemek diğer yüze gidip Nemrut Krater Gölü'nü seyretmek harika hisler uyandırır kişide. Yerli yabancı turistleri buraya getirebilmek zor değil. Madem dağlar karlarla örtülü, bunu değerlendirmemek olmaz
