Gardening, planting onions and grapes

With the melting of snow and warming of weather, the garden season has begun. We have a small garden in front of our house. We are using it as efficiently as possible. We are planting onions, sugar beets, green beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, basil and zucchini in this small garden. We produce the seeds of beans, cucumbers and zucchini ourselves. We obtain the other seeds from the market. The first plant we plant is onion. Onions are planted earlier than the others because they are resistant to cold.

Karların erimesi, havaların ısınması ile birlikte artık bahçe sezonu açıldı. Evimizin önünde küçük bir bahçe var. Olabildiğince verimli şekilde değerlendiriyoruz. Bu küçük bahçeye soğan, şekerpancarı, yeşil fasulye, salatalık, domates, biber, reyhan, kabak ekiyoruz. Fasulye, salatalık ve kabağın tohumlarını kendimiz üretiyoruz. Diğer tohumları ise çarşıdan temin ediyoruz. İlk ektiğimiz bitki soğan oluyor. Soğan soğuğa dayanıklı olması nedeniyle diğerlerinden erken ekilir.

Since the garden is small, we use a shovel to dig. The rain that has fallen in recent days has softened the soil. This has made digging easier. We made channels to make watering easier and planted the onions in the channels. We left tree branches in the area so that animals such as birds, chickens and cats would not dig where we planted the onions. We will remove those branches once the onions have taken root.

Bahçenin küçük olması nedeniyle kazıma işlemini kürek yardımı ile yapıyoruz. Son günlerde yağan yağmur toprağı iyice yumuşattı. Böylelikle kazıma işlemi kolaylaştı. Sulamanın kolaşması için kanallar yaptık, soğanları da kanallara ektik. Kuş, tavuk, kedi gibi hayvanların soğan ektiğimiz yeri eşelememesi için o bölgeye ağaç dalları bıraktık. Soğan iyice köklendikten sonra o dalları kaldıracağız.

Sugar beet is what we planted here. We use the leaves of sugar beet in many different dishes. We also use the root after harvest. It is one of the garden products we care about. It is one of the plants that does not require any hassle in terms of watering.

Şuraya ektiğimiz şeker pancarı. Şeker pancarının yapraklarını bir çok farklı yemekte kullanıyoruz. Kökünü de hasattan sonra değerlendiriyoruz. Önem verdiğimiz bahçe ürünlerinden biri. Sulama konusunda uğraştırmayan bitkilerin başında geliyor.

Grapes are one of my favorite fruits to consume. They are used in many ways. Fresh grapes are beautiful on their own. Dried grapes are also very good. There are those who make molasses. Armenians who lived here in the past used to make wine from grapes. There are those who make dolma with their leaves. Their usage area is quite wide. We have a few grape trees in our garden. However, we planted many grape trees in another garden to have more. I have some doubts about it blooming, but if it blooms, I will have a very good grape garden. Grapes produce more fruitful fruits in sunny places. I paid attention to that during the planting process. If it blooms, I will talk about it in my next posts.

Üzüm tüketmeyi sevdiğim meyvelerden biri. Bir çok şekilde değerlendiriliyor. Yaş üzüm başlı başına güzel. Kurutulmuş hali de gayet iyi. Pekmezini yapanlar var. Geçmişte buralarda yaşayan Ermeniler üzümlerden şarap yaparmış. Yaprağı ile dolma yapanlar var. Kullanım alanı oldukça geniş. Bahçemizde bir kaç üzüm ağacı var. Ancak daha fazla olması için başka bir bahçemizde çok sayıda üzüm ağacı ektik. Yeşermesi konusunda biraz şüphelerim var ancak yeşerirse gayet iyi bir üzüm bahçesine sahip olmuş olacağım. Üzüm güneş gören yerlerde daha verimli meyveler verir. Ekim işlemi yaparken ona dikkat ettim. Yeşerme olursa sonraki gönderilerimde bundan bahsedeceğim.
