When I joined Hive
In one of my articles this week, I listed out the things Hive has taught me, and one of them is learning how to be committed to a task and being consistent.
When I joined Hive, I struggled a lot to write, not because I didn’t have things to write about or didn’t know what to write, but because I was very lazy and kept procrastinating. There are many communities I belong to that host weekly writing competitions. Sometimes, I would pick one to write for, and before I knew it, I would push the idea aside, and that would be it. Procrastination always found its way.
But when I found out that being consistent on this platform is one of the ways to earn and get noticed, I decided to stop my procrastination habit and jump on a daily writing streak, except for weekends, because they’re my full rest days, and most times I attend to more personal things. For some months now, I have been consistent in my writing journey. Although I have not been earning as much as I ought to, compared to what I’ve seen others earn, Hive has taught me that if I can make up my mind to take on any task, I can do it if I am well determined.
I have been consistent in writing, and these days, I do not feel like I’m being pressured to do it like I felt during the beginning stage. Anytime I close from work, I make sure I complete my streak before I go to bed. It has become a compulsory thing for me, and I love it.
Also, Hive has taught me to be a better writer. At the initial stage, I never considered myself to be a good writer. I was scared people were going to criticise my poor arrangement of words, but that never happened. This has given me the room to keep going and to keep improving my writing skills. I love how my writing skills have improved a lot and are still improving.
Thanks!
