What Hive has taught me
It’s been 8 months since I joined this Hive writing platform, and although things haven’t been the way I wanted them to be, I haven’t had any reason to regret my decision to join this blogging platform.

Just as I mentioned in one of my articles, I joined this place to earn $LEO, as the person who onboarded me always talked about it. I came here to make money and wasn’t interested in anything else, fully aware that online money-making platforms don’t last long. The ones that pay for free could decide to shut down at any time. I mean, there’s always that situation where the site closes down and someone becomes unable to withdraw the money in their wallet. But after seeing how things work here, my mindset changed.
This is one of the things that made me fall in love with this platform because it’s purely Web3, and everyone has the right to their money, whether the system stops working or not. Before I came to this platform, I didn’t know or didn’t think that something like this existed. I had done Ponzi schemes that disappeared with the money in my wallet when the site stopped functioning. That experience made me realize that we can actually have our money saved and invested in a Web3 platform without the fear of losing it.
Another thing that I frowned at initially when I joined was when I was told that I couldn’t withdraw everything I earned because half of it was going into staking, which is called HIVE POWER. I wanted a situation where I could withdraw everything I earned because I’m always in need of money. But in the long run, I found out that staking is very good. Apart from giving someone the power to vote, it’s also a way to save money because we are still the owners of the staked Hive, which is money too.
Coming to understand how Web3 works through this platform is a big blessing to me. Without joining this, I doubt I would have known even the basics about Web3.
Another thing that this Hive platform has done for me is helping me stick to plans, especially concerning online activities. When I joined, I found consistency in writing to be a big deal, and that was because I wasn’t really into writing. But when I found out that one of the things that will keep me valid in this space is being consistent, I took up the task and decided to be very consistent in my blogging duties. I have offline work that doesn’t give me enough time for online activities. I only have free time mostly when I’m done with work in the evening or at night in particular. I make it a responsibility to complete my routine online by maintaining my writing streak. I post most times at night. This platform has given me the ability to master consistency, and I love it.
Also, I’m still learning how to write perfectly, and this place has been helping me on that track.
Thanks!
