The terrifying night with armed robbers
One of the lessons I have learnt from people’s experiences is never to confront armed robbers, no matter how low their physique may appear or the type of weapon they are carrying. While some people who have tried to play the hero by confronting armed robbers have succeeded, most of them have died because at that moment when an armed robber is being attacked and about to be caught, they can do anything to escape even if it means killing the person attacking or holding them at that moment.
One of the ways and situations in which I was physically and emotionally threatened was by armed robbers, and that night is one I can't forget in a hurry.
I was in year two in a tertiary institution when armed robbers raided our hostel on a dark and scary night.
It was a normal Tuesday. Almost everyone in the hostel was around because exams were getting closer, and nobody was willing to travel.

That night, around 10 p.m., my roommate and I heard ladies (our neighbours) shouting and pleading not to be shot.
We didn’t need a prophet to tell us what was happening. I quickly went to the door to check if it was properly locked, and then locked it again just to be sure. The door was a wooden one, and we were okay with it because we had a gate that we usually locked on time.
As soon as I finished checking the door, a bang landed on it, and a masculine voice ordered us to open the door and come out. He added that if they had to do it themselves, they were going to deal with us.
Fear took over me; I started shivering in the corner of the kitchen. My roommate was there too, and we were not ready to open the door, hoping that God would make them leave our door alone. But the fourth warning came with a big bang, and before we knew it, they broke in and entered.
They slapped us while one of them dragged us out to the point where they were assembling all the occupants. In my mind, I thought they were going to beat us mercilessly or even cut us with their dagger, but it ended up being just the slap.

When they had assembled all of us, some of them were guarding us. They were with machetes and battle axes, and I’m not sure if they were with guns. The others went into our rooms and collected just phones and laptops. When they were through, they locked the gate from the outside and disappeared.
I think they left on foot because we didn’t hear any sound of motorbikes or cars.
As soon as they left, we all rushed into our rooms to see what they had taken, and that was when we discovered that they had only collected phones, chargers, and laptops. For those of us who had our phones on us, they collected them on the spot. It was just three persons who hid their phones deep inside their rooms that were lucky because the robbers dragged them out and didn’t order them to bring anything out. I guess they were in a hurry too.
That night was one of the scariest nights throughout my entire stay in school.
Thanks!

Oh heavens. I have heard stories of robberies. That must have been an unpleasant experience but thankfully, you kept your lives.
It was strange yet familiar to what we see in movies. God saved us that night by them just coming for our gadgets.
Thanks
Its never encouraging to confront an armed robber especially when they are with deadly weapons, life doesn't have second phase so we just have to obey every instructions. The experience is very traumatizing. Thanks for sharing this with us
