Successful people are not gifted
"Successful people are not gifted; they work hard."
Up till today, I haven't gone to the internet to search for the original owner of this quote. I heard it casually in a church sermon by the preacher, and ever since then, the words have rung loudly in my head anytime I think of it or reflect on my hustling life. I see more reasons not to relent or give up, no matter how hard the situation is. Instead, I take a rest and continue when I have regained my strength.
The quote is full of truth about life. It has a very deep meaning that's bigger than the literal words.
In my life, I have failed in some aspects, and when I want to give up completely, these words ring a bell in my head, pointing at people I know who made it through their continuous and untiring pushing.
We know that there are people who are actually born with good gifts that have fetched them wealth and are still fetching them money. We can also agree that there are people who are gifted in some areas but are nowhere to be found. The difference is hard work, smart work, and untiring pushing.
I have heard and seen the argument between Messi and Ronaldo, where Messi is said to be gifted in football while Ronaldo worked his way through. Well, even if that's the case, we've seen how the two of them have stood out for ages and are still making waves. What's keeping them relevant even to this moment is their continuous hard work on the field. Let's agree that Ronaldo was never gifted, just take a look at how he pushed himself to the top with his continuous training and many other things such as dieting. Oh boy, any height is achievable in this world by a person if the person's mindset is not limited by thoughts that people who are doing excellently well in a field are simply gifted.
Let me use the case of learning musical instruments as an example. Some of these instruments can appear very tough and unlearnable, making one believe that the people who are playing them are gifted and that they can't be learned. Do you know that someone who is not gifted in any way can learn the instrument from scratch and play it even better than gifted people? Yes, it's very possible, and I have seen someone who learned how to play the piano, which seemed like a very difficult thing from the start, and mastered it very well.

I have been applying that quote in my life. It keeps me pushing. It keeps telling me that as long as I don't give up or let excuses have their way, I'll surely hit my target one day.
It's just like this Hive writing platform. Most of the people excelling here are not gifted with writing. They're just putting in their hard work, and it's paying them big time. I want to be like them too.
Thanks!

There are factors that play a role in a person's success. But one thing is a constant, and it is that success comes to those who put in the work, so we must ensure that we keep striving and not give up. Cause ewho knows, the next one could be the best one.
Even the gifted need to keep refining their gifts to keep it alive. Most people think it's about being gifted, yes, it is not bad to be gifted but excellence is something we must not neglect, and that can only come through hard work. There is nothing we can't achieve, but there's always a price attached.
I don't know much about Ronaldo and Messi but I believe those guys paid the price to be wherever they are today
