If there's a way to stop double dating

Whenever I hear the word "double dating," the question that comes to my mind is, "Why choose to play games in secret when you can boldly do it openly without facing any queries?"

It baffles me a lot. Why would someone choose to date and hide, treading carefully in order not to be caught, when they can have their fun openly without hiding? In this current stage of the world, dating is no longer shunned as it was in the 90s and early 2000s, when young adults had to hide to date. These days, we are allowed to date. So why the secrecy? Why the games? Don't you like freedom?

Double dating, as we have it in this era, is when someone is in a relationship yet secretly having an affair with another person for various reasons. This act is done in secret because there is no way the one who is not double dating would know and still be comfortable in the relationship.

I am never a supporter of double dating, no matter how speedily the world is accepting the lifestyle. Once I am in a relationship with a lady and I find out that she is double dating, I will call her to order, and if she persists, then we will call it off. There is no way a relationship where trust is lacking will lead anywhere, unless, of course, the relationship is there for fun and nothing more.

Double dating happens to both genders, male and female, and from what I have seen, the operation is balanced. There is no gender that engages in it more than the other. The way the ladies are doing it is the same way the guys are doing it. Most times, it happens as a way of having a "plan B" due to insecurity. In case the current relationship does not work out in the end, the person can easily move on with the one they have been having a secret affair with.

Most times, people also double date, especially ladies, just to meet their financial needs. Maybe the guy they are with is not financially buoyant, and though they love him, love alone is not enough. So, they secretly date another guy who is well-to-do to meet their financial needs. On the other hand, guys also double date, mainly to satisfy their pleasurable desires. It is so bad!

What Can We Do to Stop This Act?

This lifestyle has already caused great harm to relationships and marriages, making people scared to get into relationships because they do not want to be played and cheated on.

It is so bad that this lifestyle has grown so deep into the hearts of many that it is very hard to get rid of such thoughts. Maybe orientation may work, but how does the world go about this orientation?

It would be better if movies and skits portraying double dating were stopped and banned. If you check closely, most of the best-selling skits and movies are based on cheating in relationships and marriages. Maybe they should act the opposite—or maybe continue making such movies and skits, but with endings that portray the evil side of cheating and double dating.
