I will make it in this life!

The "I must make it in life" moment for me happens on a regular basis because as days pass by, I keep seeing the successes that people have achieved and how they're living life effortlessly. Each time I see those moments either in movies, real life, or on social media and I try to compare my current situation, there's always this fire that burns in my bones and assures me that I must make it in life to be like those people. They say that competition and comparison are not good,I know that, but sometimes, it is what pushes us to strive to be a better person.

One of the biggest moments where I felt the height of my spirit telling me that I must make it in life was when one of my uncles died because they didn't take him to the hospital on time due to lack of money. Maybe he was destined to die at that age through that sickness, but the way everything played out was so insulting to my extended family at that moment. I always imagine and put my family in the same position, if it were my dad, is that how he would have died because we didn't have the money to take him to the hospital? So painful!

The event happened during the rainy season just as we are having currently. The uncle fell ill and the family members were very reluctant to take him to the hospital because there was not enough money, and they all blamed the rainy season for making their various businesses unproductive. They contributed a very small amount of money, and it didn't amount to anything, so they decided to treat him with petty drugs from the chemist shops. It was after three days of nursing the severe sickness at home that they decided to take him to the hospital using borrowed money,which my dad insisted on, but that same night he was admitted, he died in the hospital bed.

It was such a painful moment because I'm very certain that if he had been taken to the hospital earlier, he would have survived the sickness. But he died all because there was no money to pay for hospital bills, and also, the family members were so poor and were not willing to borrow money.

Since that moment, I always put my parents in that situation and imagine what would happen if we were to remain poor and sickness struck and there was no money to pay for hospital bills, and someone died because of it. God forbid! I will make it in this life!
