Guiding children to healthy digital lifestyle
In this modern day where technology has become the ruling factor, it's gradually getting out of hand when it comes to guiding children to maintain a healthy digital experience. With the very common usage of smartphones, it's very tasking to guide children on how to use phones in order not to go into unwanted places and also cautioning them against addiction to it.
As for my opinion, the following are ways I will suggest to keep children on a healthy digital lifestyle:
LIMITED SCREEN TIME:
We all know how difficult it is to control things we are addicted to. We should not allow children lengthy screen time to avoid deep addiction. This screen time includes TV and phones too. The time should be limited because these things have proven to be easily addictive. When they get addicted, it becomes very difficult for them to pull out and concentrate on their studies. A specific time should be put in place for screen time, and it should be monitored by the parents or whoever is assuming the parenting position. If they're allowed to use the TV or phone as they like, they'll end up spending their entire day, week, or even months smiling and watching TV or pressing the phone. They will not have time for assignments. In fact, they'll find it very difficult to cope in school because the thought of their fun time is always on their mind.
Parental Control on the TV or Phones: There are some apps that can be downloaded onto a phone to help lock or restrict the functioning of certain parts of the phone. The same thing applies to TVs too. A parent can set that in order to guide the child correctly.

Allowing children to have full access to the TV or phone means trouble is grooming, and it’s unknown.
Parental control on TVs and phones is a good way of protecting children from what they watch. Nowadays, explicit content is everywhere, and it could be in ads content that pops out from nowhere. It is very good to restrict some apps and access to certain places on phones.
Educating the Children on the Usage of Appliances at Home: As simple as this may sound, operating an appliance without good knowledge of it can lead to damage to the appliance or even cause an accident. This reminds me of a time I travelled to stay with an uncle. They had a multiple gas cooker, the type that doesn't need matches to light up. That evening, I wanted to boil water to make eba. I couldn’t find matches to light up the cooker. Meanwhile, I had already ‘cracked’ the starter, and because I couldn't find matches and didn’t know that the gas cooker could be used without matches, I left it and didn’t know that I had turned it on. That’s how everywhere in the house was filled with gas odour. God saved us that day because if there was any atom of fire, everywhere would have caught fire.
Parents should educate children on how to use digital appliances.
Thanks!
