Electricity supply in my town

The writing prompt in this sci-fi multiverse community is an interesting one, and I have a good opportunity again to vent my anger about the poor electricity supply we have in my city.

PIXABAY

First of all, my town is a developed one, but electricity has not followed the development status of the town. The electricity supply is very poor, and it has forced a lot of households and business owners to resort to using solar systems in their homes and business places. However, these solar systems are not cost-friendly either, and this makes the situation even harder for low-income earners or hustlers like us.

The system we have is the kind where electricity is controlled from the main office and distributed to every area, and the bills are circulated in paper form to various households. I do not know the correct term for this kind of electricity system.

Sometimes, we get electricity supplied only once or twice in two weeks, and we have gotten used to it. On the days when we receive a steady electricity supply, we immediately know that either the bills are about to be distributed or the company is up to something.

In all of this, we still pay bills because failure to pay would lead to the company staff disconnecting the wires whenever they come around for disconnection exercises.

Many times, fights break out between the power company staff and the communities, but in the end, the company staff always win because they are government workers.

The situation of electricity becomes even worse whenever there is damage to any of the transmission channels, such as high-tension wires, poles, or transformers. Whenever this happens, we completely give up our expectations of getting electricity for a long time because the government is very slow to respond to such situations. This makes things very difficult, and the members of the affected areas usually have to contribute money to fix the damage themselves.

Thanks!

Sad but true, this is really what is happening here in Benue state, these power holding companies won't give us light and whenever you see light, just know that they are up to something, either to collect their bills or something else

Poor power supply can be fustracting and I can relate to how you feel, from poor infrastructure to poor power supply which isn't good enough for our power demands, hopefully that'll be fix soon.
