Crypto and Web3 journey
I haven't been active lately on the blockchain, and I missed this writing prompt because it's already expired, but I love the topic and still want to write. I hope the administrators don't find it offensive. Okay, I'll do that without adding the compulsory tags.
I didn’t know anything about Web3 until I came across this writing platform called Hive, and I’m glad I’m learning things and catching up with the fast-moving world. When we finally switch into Web4, I won’t be in the dark at all.
When I joined Hive and saw how things are done, I was surprised to come across such a system where no one has authority over others and things are done publicly, to the extent that one can look at someone’s wallet and see every penny there, ask questions, or find ways to be like the person, unlike platforms like Facebook and X, where no one can see someone’s wallet. The beauty of transparency in Web3 is so admirable.
My journey in this space has not been a smooth one at all, being my first experience with Web3. This place is difficult too, just the way crypto itself is difficult.
Talking about crypto, you need to know how I was scared of anything called crypto in the past because of a lot of things, such as the difficulty in understanding how it works and also how people talk about losses in crypto, especially how they say that once money is lost, say due to a mistaken transaction, it can’t be traced or recovered because crypto has no physical stations like banks where we can lodge our complaints. These things scared me a lot because I don’t have money and couldn’t afford to lose the little that comes my way.
But I had to swallow that fear and began to associate myself with crypto some years back when crypto had become very popular, to the point that even a child in secondary school would be announcing that he has Bitcoin in his wallet, while an adult like me was still scared to start. That was my kickoff into the crypto world. I started by claiming faucets, and it was all fun having money, though very small, in my wallet. Those airdrops triggered me to learn how to exchange the coins to naira (fiat). So, this is how I got into the crypto space, through relating with some friends as well.
Because I already had knowledge of crypto, I felt very interested in joining this Hive platform when I was told about it. I remember I started to earn LEO tokens because that was what the person who introduced me was all after. The person liked LEO tokens a lot! When I joined, I found out that I could earn more and do more. But it has been difficult too because earnings have not been coming. Maybe there are still some tricks of Web3 that I’m yet to understand.
Thanks!
