Daily Blog- Santana
As soon as I got off the plane, it was a little cloudy but that didn't make up for the intense heat that was felt all over the island despite a slightly dark appearance I had temperatures around 27 degrees Celsius
I was looking forward to starting exploring the island, but before that I had that long process at the rental car company.
Although I went to pick them up at the airport, it felt like time had passed so quickly and they took a long time to deliver the vehicle to me.
Well I chose a Fiat Panda for this adventure, one of the cheapest cars
company had, but for what I needed it was great and had the necessary space for everything I wanted.
"actually it was a real challenge to cross those steep mountains with the car",but these small details and setbacks make our trips unique :) The airport is in Santa Cruz and the trip to Santana took approximately 20 minutes, it is known for the typical houses and regional traditions.
The landscape was lush, along the route the road wound between the mountains and offered incredible views over the atlantic ocean contrasting with the green mountains and the tunnels that passed through them.
even if a little cloudy the energy and the natural beauty
were undeniable
Upon arriving in Santana, I was greeted by the famous typical Madeiran houses, known as 'casas de colm'. and a fair that I believe was daily where fresh fruit and vegetables were sold.
The rustic buildings, with thatched roofs and colored stone walls, are the real attractions of the place and deserve a visit. Every detail was carefully planned, valuing the tradition and culture of the region.
The houses in Santana are an example of adapting to weather conditions, their thatched roofs help with thermal insulation and the spans are highly impregnable, in addition to creating a unique architecture, it is very functional.
I remember that on the island the rain is frequent.
the stone walls provide the necessary strength and solidity.
its vibrant colors are very expressive, colorful and very Asian verandas with clay vases that give it a very special charm.
In addition, the gardens around are very well maintained, in addition, the benches and barriers are made of wood.
Everything around it seems thought out to the smallest detail, taking us back to the past.
All the people who passed by were delighted with the details and, as usual, took the opportunity to take pictures.
the atmosphere was welcoming, it was as if each house told a unique story revealing the cultural heritage of the island of Madeira
3 houses, its interior was converted into a convenience store.while others still inhabit people.
Still in the place there were several mannequins with the field clothes used at the time, they also had goats with 2 bunk beds in the corner to imitate the houses of santana, everything around us referred us to that beauty built by our ancestors and cared for until today by our generation
That's all for today, I hope you enjoy reading. See you in the next post.
