Beer is Salad, yes, and it is Vegan! In Canada (probably in the US also) we called it a Barley Sandwich. And in Bavaria it is a 'Grundnahrungsmittel'(Staple Food, like Bread and Milk) and therefore only taxed 7%, whereas in Austria, the tax is 20%. That is the reason beer in pubs in Austria is more expensive than in Bavaria.
