Roman Reigns' WrestleMania Loss and WWE Draft Withdrawal
When Roman Reigns was defeated at WrestleMania, I felt that for him everything had changed. He had a record-breaking title reign of 1316 days which came to an end at The Show of Shows this year.
On the second night of WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes beat him in a Bloodline Rules match. Although the odds were against Cody, he still managed to win and thus closed the chapter of Roman’s story.
I overheard Kevin Nash, a WWE legend, talking about it on Kliq THIS. He said that after winning a tag team match earlier that night against The Bloodline there should have been some kind of advantage for Roman Reigns and his crew on Night Two.
However it didn’t look like they got any. Nash thought there were too many run-ins in the main event between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes and not enough substance.
He even mentioned that he was glad Stone Cold Steve Austin didn’t show up because then there would have been even more run-ins.
I concur with Nash. It didn’t seem just that Roman and The Bloodline didn’t gain anything for winning the tag team match earlier in the night. It made the main event feel a little too frenzied, a little too messy.
WrestleMania was not the end of Roman’s troubles, however. When it came time for the WWE Draft, he was nowhere to be found. On SmackDown, Paul Heyman said that Roman had elected not to enter himself in the draft. Later on Solo Sikoa told Heyman to make sure The Bloodline got drafted to SmackDown.
I’m very intrigued about Roman Reigns and The Bloodline’s next move. Can they recover from Roman’s WrestleMania defeat? And what does it mean that he opted to sit out the draft?
I believe that Roman must have been devastated by his loss at WrestleMania, which was such a big blow to The Bloodline as well. After holding the title for so long only to lose it must’ve really gotten to him.
So now it seems like he doesn’t know what to do with himself – not participating in the draft is an indication of this. Maybe he just needs some time off to collect himself and come up with another game plan.
I’m still a big Roman Reigns fan and I do think he will come back stronger than ever before. He has been through tough times in the past and always managed to come out on top. As long as The Bloodline is with him, I believe they can overcome any obstacle.
For sure, I am going to continue watching what happens next with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline because right now they are some of the most entertaining wrestlers in the WWE and I am really interested to see how their story unfolds from here.
